What happens to maternity benefits for no2 if you get pg with no2 during maternity leave for no1?

Bit of a premature question as no1 is not due for a while yet but as it took so long ttc I guess we may not leave it very long before ttc no2. So, has anyone got any idea what would happen re maternity benefits if you ended up on maternity leave a second time without going back at the end of the second one (I hope that makes sense) - I'm thinking the one you get from your employer rather than the statutory minimum.

I ran 2 lots of mat leave consecutively. My employersaid that I would not need to pay the employer's enhanced pay back even though I was not actually at work because I fulfilled their requiriements through being contracted to work for them for 3 months after the end of my first period of mat leave. Obviously I did not get the benefit of mat pay for the second period of leave and so there was nothing to pay back at the end of that. You do need to check your contract/ company policy though because this may vary depending on the organisation that you work for.

It really depends on what your employer want to offer as an enhanced package. I am on my second lot of consecutive maternity leave and only get the statutory requirements. I get Maternity Allowance from the DSS as my employer won't pay Maternity Benefit 'cos I haven't paid enough tax in the 'qualifying period'. Considering I have paid taxes all my working life, I consider that a bit much ! My job is being held open until next year, and I get continuity of employment, but money wise it's a bummer. I got some very good info from the Maternity Alliance website as others have mentioned.
Hope you manage to get some info from your employer
