13.5 week worry

I'm nearly 13.5 weeks and all my sickness has gone, my tiredness has ebbed and generally I feel really good. I had a great Nuchal Scan a week ago (top results).

But now I worry that I don't feel 'anything'. I have no symptoms really. I feel very normal. I keep thinking has something happened to the baby? I know it sounds irrational...

My symptoms cleared up a lot by week 11 so it's not like it's new, but...

Anyway, is this a normal feeling of anxiety?

Yep...get used to the anxiety cos it's pretty much here to stay oh until the baby is about 18 or so!! lol

I'm nearly 29+2, bump very prominent and I'm feeling incredibly pregnant. But I still wake up every morning and don't feel quite right until I feel the baby moving. Once you can feel it move (and that might not be for another 5 weeks or so) that should take some of your worries away. Or buy a doppler fetal heart monitor off ebay for about £15 - ours worked pretty well from about 15 weeks onwards - and you can hear the baby's heart beating every time you feel anxious.

Lol! I had exactly the same thing as you OP. My bump actually shrank at that stage as well as i was so bloated in my first 12 weeks.
I too am heavily pregnant now and feel the same as littlemiss...
I think lots of ladies suffer from anxiety during pregnancy and it's just a matter of being super aware of it and trying to keep it bagged so that it doesn't get out of control.
Try your best to chill out and enjoy being able to feel relativley normal and energised at this stage.
Best wishes for your pregnancy!

Yes, very normal. I felt on top of the world when my nausea eased. I'm 16w today, and feel as if I have very few symptoms, except my boobs are still a bit sore to the touch.
Defo rent a doppler - it's very reassuring. I heard my baby's heartbeat from 11 weeks, altho I know it can be hard to find till later on.

Thanks ladies

It's such an no-win. Feel like crap and you can't wait to feel better. Feel better and you worry things are or aren't okay

Where do i 'rent' a doppler from?

don't worry I still feel like this at 20wks! had no symptoms, sickness or anything and convinced myself I would see nothing on the scan but everythings fine! I now worry that I've felt no movement

ShowOfHands · 09/06/2010 16:02

You're blooming. Enjoy it while it lasts.

It's physically because the placenta's doing its job now instead of your resources being so drained.

Congratulations.

I hated this stage of pregnancy both times because I felt so unpregnant. I so empathise. It's really disconcerting as you have no evidence that the baby is still there and start to wonder if the scan was just a video of any old baby on loop rather than your baby! It gets better once the baby starts moving and start to get a proper bump as you feel pregnant again. In the meantime just try not to worry, and enjoy the fact that you aren't sick or exhausted and can enjoy life!

I rented my doppler from ebay. Just under a tenner a month, and worth every penny. Just dont panic if u cant find it at any point. Just try again later. I've found mine from weeks 11 till now, but today I struggled to find it in ten mins, even tho I normally find it within 30 seconds

LittleMissSnowShine · 09/06/2010 23:00

I bought an Angel Sounds one off ebay for £15, including headphones and a small tube of the gel you need to use with it. It's prob not the most sophisticated model but it does the trick and we've been able to find a heart beat (below belly button and to the right a bit!) from about 15/16 weeks on...

vmcd28 · 10/06/2010 09:00

Ah, thats what I forgot to say - the doppler I have also comes with a 250ml (I think) bottle of gel, which has lasted me 5 weeks so far, and I still have around a third of a bottle left.

Also, some dopplers are "ultrasound", like the ones the midwife uses, and others (like the angel sounds one, I believe) are amplifiers, so are more basic, and dont work till a bit later on in the pg.

I believe both are pretty good, but thats the difference, in case you were wondering
