Pain...how much is normal at 32 odd weeks?

Hello all,

As per the title really, I'm nearly 33 wks and in quite a lot of pain today. My whole lower bump really hurts, with one particular sore area. Walking around is quite troublesome (a particular problem as a teacher!) and I wasn't sure how much is normal.

I don't like to cause a fuss, so I am loathe to phone the midwife or whoever if this is something perfectly normal that loads of people have experienced. Hence asking here!

Anyone any experiences?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds to me like you should call MW or hospital.

(My pain at 35 weeks turned out to be labour... yours might not be but better to get it checked out).

Hope all is ok.

I'm 31 weeks today and have had pains a few weeks ago and i called the labour ward and they said they would rather someone phone and go get checked out rather than sit at home and worry.

please call the hospital

hope all is ok.

(ps this is my first but in my experience of mums net Jacks always gives sound advice :-) )

Ah ok, might do then! I hate feeling like a hyperchondriac or something, but equally I haven't been this sore before!

Thanks all, will phone when I finish work this afternoon.

I called the maternity unit and they said to wait until I see the midwife next week and ask for a physio referral and get a support belt.

I don't know what to think now, it is really quite sore...more so than it was this morning. As long as I sit still and don't move at all it isn't too bad (unless I touch it, there is one specific spot that really hurts) but if I lean forward or back in my chair, opr stand up it really hurts. I guess that means it could just be muscular? Annoying thing is that I cause it hurts I can't figure out if I can feel her moving or not, or whether the things that feel like movement are just pain twinges.

I'm sure someone else will come along with better advice, but i'd be tempted to call back, I'm no expert but muscular pains would be less likely to come in twinges. I'm very surprised that they didn't ask you to attend.
Hopefully this will bump the thread and someone else will give their opinions but as i've said, I would call back, express my concerns, and ask to be checked out! X

how are you today MrsC?

MrsC2010 · 10/06/2010 09:59

Hello! Not too bad here, I called them again last nigth and ended up going in to be looked at in the middle of the night, I guess no pregnancy is complete without an inpromptu hospital visit!

The staff were great, certainly didn't make me feel silly. I was there for a few hours and they monitored heartrate etc, apparently all is fine. The midwife noted that my stomach was very tense when I arrived but eased off periiodically, but said there was no sign of labout which is good. She said it does sound a bit odd for muscular pain, sp to keep an eye and take paracetamol if necessary. But the baby is fine.

She did notice I was measuring quite small so is sending me for a growth scan tomorrow.

Very relieved now, I can handle pain as long as I know it isn't dangerous for her.

Thanks for asking, I was feeling quite sorry for myself yesterday!
