Baby's movements at 30 weeks

Just looking for any advice, experiences. I am currently 30 weeks with second baby and have noticed since Thursday a definate change in FM. Baby used to bounce and kick and move around all day and night, now movements are much tamer and low down in abdo, more like the movments felt from about 16-22 weeks sort of squirmy. Don't want to bother midwife as obviously still feeling regular movements just differently, when I wake up in the morning the first thing I realise is I haven't felt baby all night it used to be baby that woke me up! Thanks

Fetal movements certainly change throughout pregnancy and only at about 30+ weeks do they settle into any recognisable pattern. If you are still feeling plenty of movement throughout the day I would not be too concerned, I would assume baby had settled into a different position. If you are worried give your antenatal daycare unit a ring who will be happy to see you (&pop you on the monitor where baby will leap around I'm sure).Otherwise, If you have a mw appt in the next few days you may wish to leave it till then when she can have a listen in.

The exact same thing happen to me around 30 weeks and the movements are still the same now at 32 weeks. Some times I can really feel her wriggle rather than kick - can sometimes make me feel a little sea sick

Keep an eye on it and if you get worried give the midwife unit a ring, I ended up going to the hospital last week due to other symptoms and having a trace - baby was fine with a good strong heartbeat.

I'm guessing you will have an ante-natal appointment soon if you follow a similar appointment schedule to round here.

I'm 30 weeks and am finding the exact same thing. I don't get many kicks now just lots of shifting around. I read in one of my books it's normal to feel the movements change/reduce around this stage as the baby now has a lot less room x

It is never normal to feel the movements reduce, but it is normal to feel them change. Even at the end of pregnancy when baby is very tight for space you should still be feeling plenty of movements.

Thanks for your replies I am loathe to phone the unit as I was sent by my GP last week for 2 + protein in urine and raised BP. Whilst on the monitor I heard the midwife say to someone that she would go for her break once she had discharged the 'worried well'. This pissed me off slightly as I work in a sector of the NHS that really is overwhelmed by the worried well but would never allow a patient to feel like they were wasting anyones time. I might give them a phone tomorrow have appointment next week. Reikizen I have definatley noticed a reduction but am getting at least 10 movements a day.

Hi Growing Bump, I really wouldn't let a stupid comment from the midwife stop you from getting something checked out if you are at all worried, just to put your mind at rest. Sounds like the GP referred you for good reasons anyway - raised BP and protein are totally valid reasons to be getting checked out. I'm sure everything is OK, I asked my midwife about something similar and she said as long as the baby continued to move, it didn't matter how strongly you felt the movements, but also said if I was concerned at all to get in touch. You're not wasting their time, that's what they are there for. It is not as if you are phoning them every day.
