just wondering if everyone agrees on the much-used descriptions of 'flutters' or 'popping bubbles' as accurate descriptions of the first sensations of movement.

I'm nearly 19 weeks and am not sure if I can feel the baby or not. I keep feeling like a shuddering deep inside its only for a second or so then it goes away??????

I can't wait till I feel the first kick.

nailpolish · 09/08/2005 15:14

shuddering is good description!

teuch · 09/08/2005 15:15

At first I was not sure if it was dd that I could feel as the movements we wierd iykwim. I felt as though my "inerds" (Insides ) were going to fall out LOL.!!!

jampots · 12/08/2005 23:53

butterflies or wind

Skribble · 12/08/2005 23:57

I always though it was like wind, whenever I get wind now I am always a bit worried (not expecting).

nervousmum2be · 13/08/2005 02:17

First movements for me (at approx 19 weeks) were definite 'flutterings'(initially, i though it was just trapped wind!), and by the end of the 20th week had progressed into an unmistakable 'kick'. I'm now 32 weeks, and Bab has changed his movements again, and feels like he's doing complete sumersaults and back flips rather than kicking

Rachey1969 · 13/08/2005 10:29

Yes, I think so, trapped butterfly fluttering, bubbles popping, goldfish swimming does cover it. Later kicks will feel like the outside of your cheek when you stick your tongue in it! IYKWIM....

Totally the best part of being pregnant!

biglips · 13/08/2005 10:32

mine was a tap next to my belly button and it was the best feeling ever (as im first time mummy ), but then later on it was "OW!", midwife said she was sooo active, she still is now (she is 10 months old)

biglips · 13/08/2005 10:32

i was 20 weeks pg BTW

flamesparrow · 13/08/2005 10:36

Not read all the thread, but I agree with Barefootmama with the moving wind. Or like having a muscle twitching.

Very paranoid yesterday - Had a twitchy muscle in my stomach and was trying to work out if there was any way I could be more pregnant than I am!!! It was too high up for 12 week twitches, but about 16 weeks was possible

Nemo1977 · 13/08/2005 10:44

with ds his movements early on around 16 wks were like bubbles popping then moved onto feeling like windaround 20wks ...wiht this baby they started at around 14wks with the wind feeling and then by 17wks was definete kicks

BunnyBoo · 13/08/2005 10:52

I am nearly 18 weeks and i keep thinking i have felt movement, its always at night when i am lieing in bed and i have only felt it 3 times, its also always when i am lieing on my back and it feels like a sudden kick or hand or something and always on the right hand side! I don't know if i am imagineing it but i am sure it is there.

Hulababy · 13/08/2005 10:55

I started to deel DD move around 16 weeks or so, like little tiny bubbles popping. I wasn't sure at first, but by 18 weeks it was more frequent and I knew it had to be.

toothyboy · 13/08/2005 12:45

I'm 11+3 and I swear I have started to feel something. The best way to describe it is as though I'm very lightly tensing a muscle deep inside my tummy - but am definitely not doing it myself! Or it could be wind.
