I have posted on this before, but...

I am now 23+3 and have STILL not felt the baby move (I think...).

I have an anterior placenta (not low), which I know can delay the feeling of movements, and this is my first, but is it getting to the stage when I should really worry now?

I am so scared that it is not ok in there or (and maybe this is irrational) alive etc but somehow paralysed/disabled...

My little one would move infrequently ...mainly just as i was nodding off to sleep.

I am sure it is all fine; you passed your 20 week scan?

Heard the heartbeat?

Could be that baby is kicking in rather than out if that makes sense.

I can understand your worry, but 23+3, plus an anterior placenta means that not yet feeling movements is not at all out of the realms of normal.

Have you had your 20 week scan yet? Was baby moving on screen? How about at the 12/13 week scan?

moaningminniewhingesagain · 03/06/2010 16:27

My friend hardly ever felt the baby move throughout her pregnancy, was at the hospital and clinic all the time for extra checks.

Had a healthy baby, no problems

But any change should still be checked. AFAIK an anterior placenta can cushion the baby a lot so movements are often felt a bit later. My placenta was anterior first time but I felt her from 15/16 weeks though, very odd.

Yes - 20 week scan was fine. The baby was noted as being "active" and at the time I thought it was moving around, but now the paranoia is setting in and I am worried it was just being "buffeted" or sort of prodded about by the probe and can't move itself. But I know this is silly really... the sonographer would not have put "active" if it was not moving, right?!

There has been no change... I don't think I have ever felt it move, so its not as if movements have reduced etc.

I didn't feel DD1 move until 24 weeks and then only when I did what the midwife suggested which was sit down very still with a large bottle of very cold water and drink it, sure enough within 20 mins (and as I was about to wet myself) i felt her move for the first time. Apparently there is something about a very cold drink that gets them moving.
If you are really worried give the midwife a ring and get them to check the heartbeat for you?

japhrimel · 03/06/2010 16:58

The sonographer would only have noted 'active' if it really was active - they look for reactions and other movements, not pushing the baby around.

Is it your first baby? I've been told that if I have an anterior placenta it could be 26 weeks before I feel the baby move.

I'm just about 22 weeks and just started feeling some little flutters and burps and such...nothing major though. You might have this going on and just thought it was gas? Try not to worry. Since your 20-week scan was good, I'm sure you'll be feeling him/her any day now!

mosschops30 · 03/06/2010 17:28

if it makes you feel any better on my third pregnancy (yes the one youre supposed to feel movement from about 16 weeks) i didnt feel anything until 20 weeks and even then it was pretty infrequent and I wasnt sure until much later.

Try not to worry and if it is stressing you out then pop into your maternity unit, Im sure someone will be willing to have a listen in for you
