Evening everyone. Have taken a test today to discover I AM PREGNANT!!! I am so pleased but looking at dates I am only 4 weeks. I was due period on Friday just gone so we are talking very early stages here. I was reading Miriam Stoppard book which says to do another test in a weeks time! So now am not sure whether to bask in the joy of the news today or be cautious and wait a week.
Trouble is, have been so excited and experiencing nausea and tiredness already that I have told my Mum and ds

Oh be happy, it's a baby. Should anything terrible happen, it will still have been your baby.

Congratulations!

Think the old advice about not telling people until 12 weeks, or past first trimester is silly. I would have wanted support if anything horrible did happen, so told people immediately too.

Ah thanks again. I just want to shout it from the rooftops! We have been trying for just over a year.

When did I feel it?

Pretty much right away because my head was over the pan with all of them before I was even late with my period.

You're pregnant! The tests now are so accurate that the chance of a false positive under normal circumstances is very very very small.

The rate of miscarriage is at its highest as soon as you get pregnant and then goes down and down the further on you go. So some people say don't get excited until 5 weeks plus in case it doesn't stick, but you only get a positive test when you're actually pregnant, so I'd ignore that. As someone who's had early losses, it's the opposite of helpful if when things go wrong, people say "oh well you were hardly pregnant anyway!".

Sorry, I'm wandering. Congratulations and best of luck!

Yes I guessed as I was at a Black Eyed Peas Concert last night and instead of getting drunk and going nuts I felt a real aversion to drinking and had to leave early due to feeling really sick and faint!

Thats what Miriam seemes to be saying Japhrimel. I'm just glad I know now so I can do what I should be doing!

Congratulations, I told my mum immediately, and one of my best friends. Soon after we told all of our friends and family. Reason is, no reason pregnancy shouldn't stick, but if it didn't, I'd need support and understanding from my friends and family. xx

Thanks Comtessa xx

I didn't feel "confirmed" until the 12 week scan... not becasue of fear of something going wrong etc, but because I couldn't believe it! It was a surprise(ish) and I had no symptoms at all... (no doubt now though - I am 23 weeks!)

But you ARE pregnant, and if you have been trying for a long time... I would bask!! CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations!! This little baby deserves your excitement whatever happens, so be excited if you want to be! Yes, losses do happen (I've had 2 myself), but the pregnancy is confirmed from when you get the positive test.

Ah thanks again everyone. Happy Happy. Both dh and I are overwhelmed and wondering what has changed 5 years on!
