Good Exercise DVDs for all trimesters?

Hello,
I am only 5 weeks, I am in ok fitness condition and would welcome a challenging workout.
I used to run but since I found out I am pregnant I stopped running. I feel that with some guidance and reassurance I can get back into fitness. I am looking for a good DVD to use through my pregnancy.

I am interested in prenatal pilates, muscle tone and some cardio work out as well. I've never been good in yoga but would be interested in simple type of class. I am looking for something that covers all trimesters.

Any recommendations for DVDs?
There are many products on the market, I want to choose well recommended product.

Thanks!

HI I used the Davina McCAll dvd but i found that during the first two trimesters it really wan't a challange. I would avoid this one if your looking for something energetic.

Sorry can't be of anymore help - i did use the wii fit a lot but i don't think you are supposed to when pregnant.

Hopefully someone is along soon who has found a good one that suits!

Good luck x

If you are willing to try yoga, I can highly recommend this DVD...

www.amazon.co.uk/Pregnancy-Health-Yoga-Tara-Lee/dp/B0012KSDG0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s= dvd&qid=1275428254&sr=1-1

Its got a full 70 min all over work out as well as shorter sessions you can do to help breathing in labor and a 20 minute work out you can do with your DP.

I love it, its a good work out and leaves you feeling well and relaxed rather than exhausted.

Happy hunting! x

During the first trimester, there isn't a lot you can't do, as long as you're not getting too hot, aren't raising your heart rate significantly and aren't at risk of falling over.

I'm still trying to find a good Pilates DVD - the Tara Lee one is next on the list to try.

I don't recommend Pilates For Pregnancy - The First Trimester with Tasha Lawton. It was badly done, with no warm-up or cool-down and no overall body work at all.

Erin O'Brien's complete pregnancy fitness DVD is more challenging than the Davina one so might be good if you are already quite fit - but I should think you would still find it too easy early on if you are feeling fit and well. It is good for toning with squats, lunges and tricep dips, and some pilates moves, but the cardio bit is inevitably very gentle and you could probably do more than this early on if you feel up to it.

If you normally run, there is no reason for you to stop running. The advice is to keep doing what you normally do but to be careful about doing anything new.

I been used a Pilates in pregnancy DVD (when I remember!)

Another vote for Erin O'Brien.

I used the y-plan during pregnancy DVD.
It was really good combination of aerobic and toning exercises with 4 levels- 1 for each trimester and one post-natal.
Definatly recommend it!

You can keep running whilst pregnant if you want to (other health issues aside), just make sure you don't overdo it.

Thank you ladies. I am thinking to go with:

  1. Pregnancy Health Yoga with Tara Lee
  2. 10 Minute Solution - Prenatal Pilates
3. Prenatal Fitness Fix erin o'brien

Thanks so much for your comments.

I have Erin O'Brien, have not done it for a while, am 20 weeks. I found it far too easy first of all, but you can easily add some weights to the exercises. For some of the exercises I would hold a 5kg medicine ball next to my tummy! For the first trimester, if you are fit then I would recommend regular exercise classes, but just not pushing yourself as hard as you normally would. Or as the pp says, running if it feels right for you (it doesn't for me).

Have heard great things about the Tara Lee DVD - I have it, but have yet to find the energy in the evening to do it!

sorry to hear you didn't like my workout japhrimel - it's not for everyone. It's good to try lots of different people and different levels - I hope you found one you liked in the end and have had a happy, health pregnancy. Tasha x
