Just a little moan really but does anyone else find that maternity clothes are somewhat unfashionable and nothing compared to what's on the high street?it's probably due to the better weather looming for summer that im now looking for lovely summer gear, although plenty of jeans and 'baby on board' t-shirts around its not quite the same...nor would wearing normal clothes in a bigger size seems the same.

think im just bored of wearing the same stuff now! anyone else feel the same?

Have you tried looking online? I've always found some fab stuff online and look loads better than the usual 'does my bump look big in this' clobber! I can email you some links if you like (wasn't sure if we could advertise/put links up on here! )

Seraphine stuff is good, so is Crave - I've bought lots on Ebay and I'm managing to look pretty much like my usual self (and buying secondhand means I've been able to splash on things I couldn't have justified at new prices, like an evening dress). I've got some very nice tops and linen trousers ready if we ever get any summer weather!

I like JoJoMamanBebe too. And I got a great dress from TopShop maternity recently - it's for a wedding and I had ordered a dress from Crave, but sent that one back as the TS dress was better despite being half the price!

EBay can be great - I've got a few things from there.

I hate maternity clothes!!! I am usually a bit of a shopaholic but I have found that generally maternity clothes are either black or a washed out version of a colour (I LOVE bright colours!) and either make me look like a whale (I usually wear size 8 - 10) or look like something my nan would wear (I'm 25)!! So far I have got away with a couple of maxi dresses bought a size too big (warehouse & Zara) and maternity jeans (from Gap - great range and excellent fit!) worn with stretch vest tops from river island. Its my birthday next week and trying to find something to wear for a night out is impossible! I ended up buying a stretch dress from River Island (not maternity wear) as everything else was just awful I just want a bit of colour in my life especially with the summer coming up! Sorry rant over

I agree Mummy Fifi everything is either black, or pale blue/grey, or hideous bright purple/pink. Boring or ugly. I've decided I don' really care though it's only 9 months.

Clairejs, I completely agree!!!!!!!

I did the whole high street trek at around 15 weeks and just finding the maternity clothes in high street stores is a bit like the Krypton Factor, with shop assistants staring into the middle distance when asked if/where the maternity section is. Then if you find it, like you said it's jeans, jeans, dull t-shirts and some more jeans.

In my opinion Topshop maternity is best. I have a great stripey, fun top from them and I've got a few (less exciting but practical) pieces from Mamas and Papas, mixed up with XL 'normal range' t-shirts.

I think that during the recession, shops have cut back on their maternity ranges, hence they're duller and more limited than they were a few years ago.

So annoyingly, more effort is needed......
