Should I be worried?

I don't know if I am just being completely paranoid because of having a previous mc, or whether I should be worried. I am 19 weeks and have felt the baby move from really early on, between 13-14 weeks. But I don't feel it move very much at all, and the movements do not seem to have got any stronger over the last few weeks. I am also sure my bump is much smaller than my last pg - if I have a loose top on you can't really tell I am pg. When I checked my maternity notes yesterday, I saw that the midwife had measured me at 16cm - it was my 16 weeks app and she said that was the right size BUT, I was actually 18 weeks because we'd had to move my app, so she could easily have forgotten that (she doesn't seem particularly on the ball, tbh).

Do you think this is something to worry about? With this and the bloody discharge I sometimes get (they have said it no cause for concern), I just can't relax.

You are probably just being paranoid - I know I was throughout both of my pregnancies after my mc. Nineteen weeks is quite early to be feeling movements, so are you totally sure it was the baby moving that you were feeling at 13-14 weeks?
I wouldn't worry about the size of your bump either, as I barely showed at 28weeks with my first baby then ended up like a beached whale!
If you're very worried then give your mw a call

I'm sure there's nothing to worry about but it's better to be safe than sorry so I would call your MW. Hopefully all will be well and you will be able to relax. Good luck x

I'm 19 weeks and I've felt nothing, got lot of gassy like movements around the 14wk mark, maybe it was that? but agree with chocolate speak to your mw if your worried

MadameCheese · 27/05/2010 13:30

You may have an anterior placenta (like me) which can dampen the feeling of movement to a certain extent. I wouldn't worry too much about measurements, they're not an exact science and two weeks isn't going to mean a lot of difference in terms of size of uterus, (fwiw my mw didn't measure me at 18 week check). You may well be carrying less fluid than last time too, same as me . HTH

Thanks. Def sure was baby at 13-14 weeks as I felt DS at 15 weeks. I know lots of people don't even feel baby at 19 weeks but I just thought that if you already had then you would start feeling them more substantially ifkwim. Maybe is a girl and that is why is smaller?!!

I guess I should call the midwife chocolate chomper, I am just not sure how much I trust her opinion, but I guess that is a different issue - she's really young, hasn't been pg, never had someone who's had a c-section before (apart from me), maybe I am being a bit unfair though.

Yes my first was a boy and this one's a girl. I'm surprised I can still lay on my tummy at 23 weeks, I certainly couldn't have done this with him. When's your scan?

DomesticG0ddess · 27/05/2010 13:40

RooBear, that makes me feel better. I hadn't thought of that Madame Cheese.

My scan is the week after next, 7th June. Well, nice to be smaller I guess, hopefully will not be another 9lb-er! Was your DS big then?
