Breast feeding isn't an option for me due to medical reasons. Does anyone know where I can buy 'Cow&Gate first infant milk from newborn - starter pack's from other than Asda?

I've rang the local Asda stores and they don't stock it and I can't order it on line as the local store that would prepare the internet order doesn't stock it.

Many Thanks!

Hospitals don't provide milk nowadays? They did when mine were small.
No help on where you find what you're looking for tho, sorry!

Just had a look online and I saw Boots sell it and lloyds pharmacy, hope that helps x

what's in these starter packs? i've never heard of such a thing.

can you not just buy some bottles from boots and some travel cartons. thats what they gave out at the hosptal i had ds in. the hospital will have somewhere to sterilise.

Thanks - will have a look at Boots & Lloyds! Don't fancy sterilising at all hours of the night in hospital and not 100% confident about hygiene there! - the packs have ready made bottles ready to use.

you can (or could when i was using bottles) buy disposable sterilised bottles from boots.

might work out cheaper to buy individually than a starter pack.

when I had DD (2.5 years ago) they provided SMA is bottles, ready filled with a separate steralized teat, am guessing this is the same as what you are after in your starter pack. Prob worth ringing hopoital or midwife to check but I think it's all provided and is 100% sterile and hygenic.

ask the hospital. where I gave birth in dec formula from outside was not allowed but when needed disposable prefilled bottles were given to the mums.

TheArmadillo · 27/05/2010 16:15

check with your midwife as I am in the same situation adn checked with mine, she said I wouldn't need to provide stuff in the hospital as they do it here. It varies from place to place.

Otherwise I think boots online do some starter packs. As do mothercare online I think. I looked when I was thought I would have to use them - I think they're a brilliant idea for use in hospital.

Some hospitals do provide bottles/formula (the hosp I had DS in did), some don't (the hosp I will be going to this time doesn't).

Your MW will know whether it does or not.

You can get packs of pre-sterilised bottles and cartons of formula from Boots and can order online.

Oops sorry multiple x-posts with others!

I think that the hospital will probably provide milk for the few days you are in. I remember seeing some Mums being given disposable ready made up bottles when I had my daughter last Autumn

Our local hospital refuses to give out milk now to newborns, but when I was on the ward last year they were still very helpful to the mums that were bottlefeeding, so even if you're hospital doesnt give milk, they should still support you in your choice, IYSWIM!

Boots do the SMA Gold pre-made bottles for newborns in hospital if I recall correctly, and I think you're right, the pre-made pre-sterilised bottles are your best option as you dont want to be wandering around looking for a steriliser at 3am just after giving birth
