I've read that it usually starts at around weeks 6-8 and lasts til around weeks 12-14. I'm 5 weeks, my BIL (a nurse) said if I don't have it now I probably won't get it at all. Can you tell me your experiences please

Just before 6 weeks here, until a fortnight ago (16 weeks)
Am now 18 weeks and feel fine.

I remember at 4-5 weeks feeling fine, not even tired, and thinking I was getting away lightly!

Congratulations btw

satrted around 5-6 weeks lasted till 18 weeks...sick as a dog from the moment i opened my eyes till the moment i closed them at night.

6 weeks exactly here. Although it started with total loss of appetite, the nausea came a few days later. 9 weeks now and really hoping it passes by 12 weeks. I am so bored of not being interested in food!

DD1 - started around 6 weeks, lasted til just before 12 week scan.

DD2 - hyperemesis started at 5 weeks, lasted til 30 weeks.

DC3 - hyperemesis again started at 5 weeks, am now 23 weeks and still got it.

I am only 4 weeks pg and I am already very nauseous. Was in hospital with ms and diarrhoea with my first pregnancy and very worried that will happen again!

YanknCock · 25/05/2010 04:17

Had one vomiting incident at exactly 6 weeks, but that's what happens when you wash down your pregnacare with diet coke on an empty stomach!

After that I was just queasy, then queasier, and when I got to 9 weeks I starting throwing up and didn't stop till 30 weeks.

Think your BIL is quite wrong there!

websticks me too

nausea at 2 weeks (!!) waited till 3 weeks to take the test - would have been another week before I started to wonder about a missed period, but some teenage boy at my office (not really teenage, but young - and childless) made a crack about my dodgy tummy being MS and I intended to prove him wrong .

lasted until about the seventh month. The only thing that changed at 12 weeks for me was that my hair started growing in my colour instead of white, as it did the 1st trimester.

was truly wretched and I still plan on ordering the next baby off the internet

well, goodness me... have just read this and found that I did indeed have Hyperemesis.

I guess it's good to have a name. My GP put me on medication as soon as he found out I had been vomiting at least once each day. I never had to have an IV though.

I found that NONE of the traditional remedies helped, but that if I ate lots and lots of protein I would be ok. I took to carrying cured meats in my handbag because I coudn't stand the smell of death surrounding raw meat.

with DD - didn't get it, this preg started at 6/7 weeks, turned into hyperemesis and seems to be under control at 20 weeks (just!).

I am about 12 weeks pregnant with my second child and am due in December, 10. I was just terribly sick the first time with my son and I just hoped I wouldn't be again. It wasn't to be! I started with 'morning sickness' at about 5 weeks and it is just the most awful feeling so I know how you are all feeling. Goodness knows why they call it 'morning sickness' - 'all day and night sickness'! Even coughing can make me sick. I have managed to cope better this time by eating starchy foods, crackers, bread, potatoes, noodles, etc. What ever takes my fancy. If I feel nausea coming on, I eat. Some days are better than others and just as I think I am coming out of it, I am sick the next day.

It seemed to last forever with my first child and I still had days of sickness, especially towards the end. Not sure about this time! Fingers crossed it stops soon.

Hope this helps.

Pregnancy #1 - none at all

Pregnancy #2 - Some slight nausea for about 2 weeks, at about 6 or 7 weeks

Pregnancy #3 - all day nausea, from week 5 til week 10, needed medication from the Dr. to be able to eat.

berrycravings · 25/05/2010 19:24

My nausea started about 5 weeks, only started being sick at 8 weeks. I'm finding it easier the days I am sick as I can eat straight away and don't feel sick through the day.

fingers crossed for you.

Nauseau and actaul sickness from 4 weeks; stopped at about 4 months or so. The sickness is what made me realise I might actually be pregnant at last
