Probably a stupid Q re tights

Hi,

Sorry if this is a stupid question - (only found out about being pregnant for the 1st time last week, am panicking about everything and knowledgeable about nothing), but is there ANY risk of doing any harm to a fledgling pregnancy by wearing tights with a tight elasticated waistband, or trousers that dig in round your hips/ lower belly when you sit down?

Thanks,

T

No, but it will get uncomfortable pretty soon.

Agree with fearnelinen, you will soon be unable to tolerate anything across tummy. Get ye to Top Shop and purchase some bump bands! You can keep yer trousers and skirts undone but retain your modesty. Use a rubber band or hair band to keep zip together but further apart!

And - congrats!

Such a thing a 'bump bands' exists? Tops Shop sells bump bands?? Who knew?!?

Thanks ladies, appreciate the feedback!

JoJo do bump bands with button & loop to hold your trousers together.

Congrats ! A word of warning - moving up a size or two doesn't work (it really didn't for me anyway). You just become waistless and it's soul destroying buying trousers in your hip size - talk about a way to make yourself feel like a total heffalump in no time at all. I recommend biting the bullet and buying some stretchy waistband trousers sooner rather than later. I thought a few pairs of smart trousers would last me a few months and also be of use when I went back to work but they lasted literally 3 weeks. Isabella Oliver do adjustable waistbands (but slender cut legs) so they can be quite big on the backside if you like a straight cut trouser, and Gap do quite a nice cut plain smart trousers with a stretchy waistband which stays up better than IO esp in the early days. Everything is in black though which is v dull if you work in an office with a v formal dress code.

Ooh - don't know where you live but keep an eye out for Jaegar sales. Non mat wear but good value clothes in the sales. Their trousers are high cut (disastrous for pregnant people) but they do quite flattering dresses and tops (clearly target market is people who may not be teenagers any more) which hide a multitude !

Congratulations!

I always go into my 'fat jeans' at about 5 weeks because it just gets too uncomfortable to have anything digging in.

Thanks very much, all. I'm too early to be buying (or thinking about it) maternity clother, but touch wood if/when I get there I will value your suggestions.

It's more that I'm very early and panicking about any little thing that might cause any risk of harm. I was just sitting at work yesterday then suddenly started worrying about my tights! Probably silly. I am just feel very worried and pssimistic to be honest! Had a small bleed at the weekend and then had a scan but was too early to see a heartbeat. Going back the week after next for another scan.

ANyways, thank you all for responding I really appreciate your replies, hopefully they will come ion handy in due course!
