Beta blockers in pregnancy

Has anyone else taken beta blockers through pregnancy?

I've been told there is a slight risk of the baby's growth being stunted and so they are going to monitor me after 20 weeks (I am currently 14+4). I'd be interested in other women's experiences.

Took them for a week by accident. I got them mixed up with my iron tablets! I was really worried but doc said not to worry and it would be OK. I am not sure what the stance is if you have to take them though.

I was told beta-blockers are ok. I cant take them so am on different meds (apparantly really out fashioned treatment according to GP ). I am monitored carefully and classed as high risk due to the BP not the meds as high BP can damage the placenta and cord.

I took Labetalol which is a beta-blocker for hypertension with child number 2. I had regular scans etc.. but they were to see if there was any signs of pre-eclampsia.

I was put on this by the consultant after i said i wanted to breastfeed and the amlodipine i was on was not recommended (not recommeneded during pregnancy either but as i was already on it and consultant had experince of it the risk of unstable bp was greater).

op why are you taking a beta blocker? hypertension, anxiety, migrane....
I think the specific type of beta blocker is important in the effects it has.

Thanks all.

mrsm I take propanalol for tremor and anxiety. The tremor aggravates my anxiety and the two can lead to panic attack. There's nothing else that I can take in its place that wouldn't have the same risk for the baby. I'm happy though that the risk is very slight and that they've said they'll monitor the baby's growth.
