£45 for a dreamgenii pillow - worth it?

Looked at them in mothercare the other day - can't believe they are so expensive! Would pay this much but only if they're amazing for giving you a good night's sleep while pg. Opinions please? TIA.

yes yes yes - I love mine.
It's comfortable both ways (i.e. hugging the long side & then when you turn over the short bump meant to prevent you from rolling onto your back, works just as well as a bump "holder upper" and you can still hitch the long section to rest between your knees from behind)
Def worth the £45.00 and I hear is good throughout breastfeeding too

I just had to register after being a lurker since the beginning of my pregnancy (now 30 weeks) because I needed to share that I have not slept so well since getting that pillow. it was most definitely, definitely worth it!

DesperateHousewife21 · 14/05/2010 14:32

Yes highly recommend it, would not be able to sleep without it. Im 31 weeks now and have been using it since about 20 weeks!

Spirael · 14/05/2010 14:34

I find my DreamGenii very comfortable. I snuggle between the side pillows and can pull the longer section between my knees from either side if I want to use it. I suspect I could sleep without it, so it's not exactly a miracle, but it is cozy!

Not sure whether I'll use the pillow for BFing after the birth yet... Will have to wait and see!

However, do you have a TKMaxx near where you live? I got my DreamGenii from there, with cover, for nearer £35! Better than the £45 some places want or the £40 you can find them for online. If you do have a TKMaxx, might be worth checking it out? I have two stores near me and saw the DreamGenii's in both, so I would assume it's a country-wide thing.

i have seen them in tk maxx recently... can't remember how much for thogh

SparkyMalarky · 14/05/2010 14:41

yes yes yes again! It saved me from totally knackering my pelvis, and was then fabulous as a feeding pillow (used it like that for 10 months) - worth every penny

mololoko · 14/05/2010 14:43

they are very good, but tbh a normal "V" shaped pillow would be nearly as good and more useful after the birth. I don't think they're worth the money.

having said that, I have since lent mine to 3 other friends who all loved it and will be v. grateful for it if I'm ever pregnant again.

sazziej · 14/05/2010 17:24

My DH bought me one after a week of sleepless nights, I have to say I love it! If it was down to me I don't think I would have paid £45 for it, but having used it since 16 weeks (now 24weeks) would definately recommned it to anyone. It came with one cover but I've since made myself another one.

Jacksmybaby · 14/05/2010 17:32

Hi, have a look on Ebay too, there are some on at the moment - brand new - £38 (in case TKMaxx don't have any)

DomesticG0ddess · 14/05/2010 18:26

I am quite interested in this too. I just looked on Amazon and they have them for £40. However it looks like you have to buy a cover for £10 too??

Emster30 · 14/05/2010 18:54

See I've got one and I haven't got on with it at all (just coming up to 30 weeks now). I get it out and try it every couple of weeks or so but it just doesn't help!

mama2moo · 14/05/2010 19:27

I had one when I was pg with dd1 and I didnt get on with it. I ended up selling it on Ebay and buying some Tesco value pillows and using those!

InTheZenGarden · 14/05/2010 19:40

I haven't used one of these, so can't comment but I use a 5 foot bolster pillow that I got from Dunelm Mill for £10 (+ another £5 for a pillow case)

I couldn't bring myself to spend £45 on the "real" thing, so tried this, and it works great for me... I kind of put one bit between my knees, one bit under my bump and hug the top bit

DH is very jealous

HighFibreDiet · 14/05/2010 19:43

Seems they don't suit some people. I bought my DreamGenii online and I felt it was definitely worth it. Handed it on to a friend afterwards so I hope she appreciated it.

Maybe shop around, or put a request on Freegle?

mum2oneloudbaby · 14/05/2010 19:48

loved mine, used it throughout pg1 the only way to stop me sleeping on my back and great bump support without having to juggle several pillows and good for breast feeding support too. just got it out for pg2 so getting well used.
