Interviewing two consultants before choosing one. Etiquette?

I'm expecting DC#1 and I've been advised to meet two consultants; as apparently its important not to commit to one and then find we hate him, or discover he advocates a birth that we don't want - eg he pushes patients into having caesareans.

What is the right doctor etiquette? Do I tell them we're "interviewing" two or just go in and receive normal first consultation from both - and break up with our least favourite afterwards?

Or should I tell their PAs I want an initial consultation before deciding who to proceed with.... any advice appreciated!

I take it you are going private then? Who has advised you to interview 2 and how much will that consulation cost?. I can understand having a private (independent) midwife and interviewing them but surely unless you have problems you won't see the consultnat and there will be no guaratee they will be on duty when you give birth anyway.

Hi island. Im going private and with consultant-led care. Can't afford it myself but I had problems in my first trimester so my parents kindly offered to pay.

IN which its not unreasonable to meet them first before deciding who to go with. Just say that you would like an initial consultation to consider your options.

I think I'll ask to receive and be invoiced for an initial consulatton before confirming who I want to go with.

Thanks for that!
