GTT - how crap do you feel afterwards?

I have GTT next week. Not too worried except that hospital is a 20 mile journey on very very busy motorway, in rush hour.
How crap do you feel when you wake up, and how do you feel after the test?
I plan to take a sandwich for after etc but should I drive on the motorway?
If you all say you felt completely crap, I will have to persuade my mum to come get me and take me!

I felt pretty shcocking but ok again after had eaten loads of chocolate , I'd have some food and a sit down for a good half hour before driving but then I's say you'd probably be ok. I always went to the appts on my own. Put some chocolate, bananna , Ribena etc in your bag as I literally could not make it to the hospital shop without eating them first.

I had mine today, felt really sick for about half an hour after drinking drink but otherwise was fine. I had a sandwich with me but didn't feel hungry after I'd had the drink anyway. Felt quite nauseous and hungry on the way but would have been fine to drive as sitting down! Luckily DH came with me so I didn't have to worry but it wasn't as bad as I had expected!

I had four during my last pregnancy!

The best advice I can give is don't rush out of the unit and definately eat before you leave!

They always gave me tea and toast which I took my time eating while watching tv!

The first one was the worst at 16 weeks as I was still suffering from MS, so if you are the same might be an idea to get a lift of someone as you can feel a bit shaky!

Good Luck!

when i had mine i felt fine (but i had a negative result), i felt a bit weak and hungry, but the glucose solution they give you to drink helped a little for me, tasted like sweet lucozade, not too bad considering.

planning to have to drive is maybe not the best idea, but your normally fine as long as you eat once theyve taken the last set of bloods. when i had mine i went to the dayroom after, had tea and toast, chatted for 10mins and then we went on our way

I was fine first thing, the time I found really difficult was between the second and last blood test when I was counting the minutes as felt sick and headachey. So I think you will OK first thing but like others have said make sure you have something to eat afterwards.

I was suffering with really bad hyperemesis so was unfortunately sick in a lay by on the way there twice and on the way back too, luckily my hubby was driving so I could just sit back and feel sorry for myself. I think I wolfed the tea and toast down too quickly which is what made me sick on way back. But like others have said make sure you have banana, ribena etc Is there anyone who could go with you??
Ive got the test again next week (second pregnancy) and I am absolutely dreading it.
Just reading these posts makes me think why on earth is there not a easier/better way to do this? Just all seems to very cruel to starve pregnant women and stick needles in them when they're feeling shocking!
Good luck
