Any other 'have I wet my pants or is it waters breaking" experiences?

Hi,

I'm 32 weeks, and yesterday evening whilst kneeling on floor clearing up toys, I felt a warm wet gush of fluid from below, which soaked through jeans and on to carpet. There was no 'I am having a wee' sensation, and no noticeable wee odour in the fluid.

I got checked out at hospital last night, and baby monitor was fine, and when they did the speculum - cough examination, dr saw no fluid leakage. So they took a swab and sent me home, concluding i had peed my pants.

Relieved as i am, i feel a bit unsettled as it was nothing like any other pant wetting experience i have had before! I suppose I was wondering if anyone else has had similar incontinence where they had no idea they were going to do a wee, or control over the wee? And how sure can the drs be that the waters haven't broken? There's been no further leak since then, and nothing else unusual, other than quite a lot of braxton hicks which i've been having the last few weeks.. Thanks!

I had this last week. My pelvic floor is pretty impressible, no leaks when I sneeze or cough but had a big leak when in a crouched position one day. Was hard to tell if urine as I've been drinking so much!

Hi Goosey.

I had the same last week, waiting for the results from the swab. I also had lower back pain when it happened which is why I went to hospital and a few contractions. The doctor told me that the lower back pain was due to prolapse (nice) but I have only had back pain then combined with the wetness. Nothing before, nothing since.

So I cannot really help you except to tell you that you are not on your own

Goosey, it is usually pretty easy to see with a speculum if the waters have gone or not but if you are unsure, pop a pad on and lie down for 20 mins and see what is on the pad when you get up. If you are not needing to wear a pad throughout the day I would be fairly confident that your waters have not gone but sometimes the hindwaters go and baby's head drops down and stops any more leaking. I would be super good with hygiene if I were you if you are concerned and you can always go back to hosp if it happens again, or if you begin to show any signs of an infection or baby's movements reduce.

Thanks for your posts, its helpful to read other peoples experiences. I was so relieved to be sent home last night, its only been today that I've been thinking about the size of the 'gush', and questionning whether it really could have been wee - particularly when I only seem to do tea spoon wees at the moment!

It has even crossed my mind that I could recreate the situation, and squat on the living room floor and do a wee through my clothes, just to see if it would be the same amount! But that would be a bit obsessively mad. And I think the house proud boyfriend might chuck me out on the street if he caught me....
