34 weeks and huge appetite kicked - healthy snack suggestions?

I am 34 weeks now, and my appetite has rocketed...finally.... apart from increasing my portions slightly, and increasing fruit and veg etc i eat, does anybody have any suggestions for healthy snacks whilst on the go? i have 3 weeks left at work and its not always practical for me to take food with me, apart from cereal bars, bananas etc.

also, just wondered, if I am hungry does that mean baby is hungry too? have woken up at 5am sometimes absolutely starving and got out of bed and scoffed a banana or weetabix or something thinking i am starving my poor baby..(its my first so ignore my daft paranoia here.....)

You will need to eat more frequently as your stomach can't hold very much now the baby is squashing it. Keep it high fibre and drink plenty of water or you will be constipated. Sounds like you are choosing very sensible things all on your own.

Listen to your body and eat when you are hungry. It's normal and your baby is fine. Don't worry.

Protein will keep you going for longer than fruit and veg, though fruit and veg are obviously essential for keeping up fibre! Try carrying a small handful of nuts (almonds are great because of the extra calcium), or pieces of cheddar cheese. Yoghurt is also great I've been indulging myself with full-fat Greek-style instead of my usual Muller Light and plenty of places (Pret, Caffe Nero) sell yoghurt if you don't have a fridge at work. If you're at home, make yourself a hard-boiled egg (make sure you cook it for 5+ minutes so there is no runny yolk left -- precaution against salmonella). Mixed nuts and dried fruit are also a good thing to carry around.

Nuts, definitely. It also helps to add some extra red meat into meals, if you can stand it. It keeps you full for longer, you need the extra protein and it can help to keep your iron levels up.

Salt & vinegar crisps?

No seriously, what about rice cakes with some ham or spreadable cheese (make it ahead and wrap it into foil).

Carbohydrates will make you fill fuller and give you energy (you'll need it soon).

thanks for advice all. think i def have to increase protein intake - easier to grab two sandwiches at lunch time though but will try harder...have a friend who does the atkins diet so will take a leaf out of her book and eat a pack of coktail sausages at lunch or something haha. am waiting for this 'energy burst' that people talk about in the last few weeks - need it to get the house and baby stuff sorted...done nothing yet!!!
