Anyone else worried about blood pressure?

This is 2nd pg and my bp went up at 39 weeks last time. I am 28 weeks now and being monitored every two weeks - bp is 'borderline' already and I am petrified of things going like they did before (induction, epidural, another epidural, failed ventouse, forceps, etc etc).
I would LOVE to hear from anyone who managed somehow to keep their bp in check.
I am trying acupuncture tomorrow as a starter - and will try pretty much anything!

Mine has been up and down, boderline, moderately high to low. Still very little checks, but that another story...
I don't know if it worked but a friend who'd had high bp recommended kiwi fruit, and mine did drop down around the time I started eating it. I did though also take up yoga, do a bit more (gentle) exercise and relax at work around this stage too so it was probably a combination of the above.

Oh I hadn't heard that about kiwi fruit, interesting...

I have high bp (kept down with medication) all the time, nt just during pg, first pg I was on medication throughout and it stayed fine till 38 wks, I was induced at 39 wks and had em c/s. This time round (I'm 30 wks) bp is staying at a normal level, again I'm on medication for it. Tbh I was just glad last time I didn't get pre-eclampsia as my dr seemed convinced I was going to get it!

I can't really advise on keeping it in check other than the usual sensible stuff about eating well, exercising moderately, not adding salt to food etc. Try not to worry to much, there is medication to keep bp down if it does get too high. Last time I was advised to rest as much as poss from 32 wks onwards but this time round it won't be so easy with a 2 yr old! Like you, I don't want to be induced again, hoping for an elec c/s this time.

My mw has recommended acupuncture too and I know some people recommend meditation, ultimately though some people are just susceptible to high bp in pg.

I just googled the kiwi idea to see if it's a common one : www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1207253/Kiwis-prescribed-cut-blood-pressure.html
She swore 3 a day kept her off meds the 2nd time round. It's a painless and fairly cheap idea so I thought I'd try it.

recent reseach shows beetroot juice can lower blood pressure. Meditation also good, hypnosis might help.

I am allergic to kiwis! Makes my tongue swell up - weird I know.
I had an acupuncture session this morning with an ex-midwife and she looked through my notes, thinks consultant is being hyper-cautious as it was 135/56 yesterday, has always been around the 130 mark on top and from 50 to 80 on the bottom.

That doesnt seem high bp to me?

They are usually more worried about the bottom figure and not until it gets to 90.

A BP of 56 is actually on the low side?

It is the top figure that is usually affected by you being nervous / exerting yourself so more variable.

Exactly what I thought - I think that because I have been referred to this 'high risk' clinic, they almost feel duty bound to find something to worry me about. Will stay strong and get lots of second opinions I think if they start playing the interventions game!
