Will be 36 weeks on Sunday and in the last couple of days have had what feels like period pains. They feel quite strong, I feel just as if my period is about tp start, if I wasn't as hugely pregnant as I am would be heading to the loo expecting period to have arrived. Also, and will apologise in advance for TMI but have a bit of a sensitive tummy, not quite diarorhea(sp?) but pooing loads.
I feel so uncomfortable but don't know if baby is just lying in a funny way.
Any ideas?

Have had bath .... and managed to get out again which is impressive given the bump!

No tightenings for the past 10/15 mins after the bath. Just starting to feel something again and thinking about phoning triage at hosp for opinion.

I think you should call them, just to be on the safe side.

Tobermory · 06/05/2010 21:09

JodieO I understand the point you're making and thankyou but maybe less detail?
How is your DD now?

If they are coming back again Tobermory please do call your midwives and see what they say. Hopefully its just stop start early labour and will die down so you can get a good night's sleep in - and have your childcare on hand for when the baby does decide to make an appearance.

JodieO · 06/05/2010 21:18

Sorry, only gave details so you could see that it would be worth going in to be checked. My dd is 8 years old and perfectly healthy now. won't bother posting anymore. Hope you manage to go and get checked.

SirBallotAlot · 06/05/2010 21:21

Do call the hospital - they will probably ask you to go in just to be checked over if you've had them this regularly.

Remember that UTIs can cause early contractions too.

oopsandbabycoconut · 06/05/2010 21:27

Hi I had this a few weeks ago at about the same stage. I popped to delivery suite and they checked me over yes I was contracting every 5 mins and had dialated slightly but contactions not too strong and they sent me home and told me to come back if waters broke or they got more painful. I had a CTG for 45mins. I was tired, dehydrated and it caused irritable uterus and early labour now at nearly 38 weeks I have days of contracting with backache and periods of painless BH.

Please go and get it checked out one the delivery suite. OUr community team refused to see me as I was preterm.

Tobermory · 06/05/2010 22:13

JodieO didn't mean to be rude or offend, I'm just a bit of a panicer at the best of times!

Have phoned triage and had paracetamol, to phone back in 45 mins. Still feeling some pain so am quite expecting them to tell me go in.

MrsMiamla · 06/05/2010 22:20

for the next 45 mins, please try and relax

oopsandbabycoconut · 06/05/2010 22:26

Try and relax. I found moving about/sitting made things easier. Lying down made them more painful/frequent. Have a few glasses juice/water. if you end up going in the will want wee samples by the bucket load Be prepared for monitoring and should you need to go in take a bag and expect to spend the night if they find it not calming down. I also ended up having a swab taken to check for infection. I hope I haven't worried you but given you an idea of what to expect.

hellymelly · 06/05/2010 22:32

Hope you are ok-sounds just like my early labour,I think you probably do need to go in and be checked completely.Good luck for the birth if it is labour.

liahgen66 · 06/05/2010 22:46

Tobermory, if the bath hasn't eased it, it could well be early labour, especially given you have had loose stools too.

At 35 wks you are considered pre term so will be asked to go in, Baby should be fine at this stage but may need a little help in the early stages.

Drink lots of water as dehydration can cause strong bh too.

Coula be a uti but tbh sounds more like you will be meeting baby soon.

Good luck.

Tobermory · 06/05/2010 22:52

Ok.

Bags packed including baby sleepsuit just in case. I'm sure I won't need it but if I don't take st least one then sods law says I will!
Just waiting for in laws to arrive to babysit for DD then we're off!

Thanks for all the info and hand holding everyone.

how are you now in comfort terms?

Tobermory · 06/05/2010 23:01

Still getting pains despite paracetamol, fairly sporadic but more painful I think!
Also feel quite rubbish, back aches.

They might give you something a little stronger in hospital, or yu may just crack on with labour and have a baby on election night.

Seriously, I hope it goes well for you, drink lots, wee lots and relax.

Nymphadora · 07/05/2010 05:05

Any news?

MrsJamin · 07/05/2010 07:12

Hope everything's ok Tobermory

strawberrycake · 07/05/2010 07:47

Hope everything's ok today, I've been going through this on and off for 2 weeks now :-(

Tobermory · 07/05/2010 08:13

It was a false alarm and I was home by 2.

They hooked me up to a monitor, checked BP and had a look but nothing. Pains and tightening had also stopped by then leaving me feelin a bit of a fraud! So it turned out to be nothing and despite my earlier panic I felt quite, well almost disappointed that it wasn't time to meet this baby!

However I am really glad I followed advice and got checked out.

Thanks all who posted your wise words were really appreciated.

Am pleased you are home babyless Tobermory (in the nicest possible way ) Your little one needs a little more growing time. Keep your feet up for a few days and take it easy.

Nymphadora · 07/05/2010 08:25

Good to hear it was the right outcome, see you back here in a couple of weeks!

MrsMiamla · 07/05/2010 08:26

morning Tobermory, glad all is ok.... listen to oops, she knows about these things

dinkystinky · 07/05/2010 10:32

Glad all is ok - look on the bright side, at least you've got your bag all packed now and your childcare for DD is around from today onwards
