Spotting - am worried today. TMI

Mid morning I went to the loo and when I wiped there was blood mixed in with the daily discharge. Not loads, but red, not brown. Took some deep breaths as my only experience of spotting was at 6-7 weeks in January and resulted in a miscarriage. I am 16 weeks so I know it is less common to have a miscarriage now, but still. It's been fine since. The midwife said it sounded normal and not to worry, but I can't help it. I didn't spot even one tiny bit with DS.

I had this with my second Pg at about 18 weeks- it was nothing, they took me into the antenatal ward, scanned me and checked baby's hr for about 30 mins and all was fine. Never happened again. I got the impression it wasn't unusual.

Can you call your midwife or antenatal ward? They mght be able to see you or offer some advice?

Thanks Sparky. I did call midwife and she said it didn't sound worrying, and as I had heard hb on a doppler then no point in going in. So I guess that's that unless it gets worse/happens more frequently.

I haven't had this myself (am 9+6 with 1st child) but my sister had spotting with all 3 of her children, who are all lovely healthy darlings!

What to Expect when you're Expecting says that 'spotting is as variable in a normal pregnancy as it is common. Some women spot on and off for their entire pregnancies. Other women spot for just a day or two - and others for several weeks. Some women notice mucousy brown or pink spotting, others see small amounts of bright red blood. But happily, most women who experience ay kind of spotting continue to have completely normal and healthy pregnancies and end up delivering perfectly healthy babies.'

Thanks, I am sure you are right. One of the problems is I got pregnant just 2 weeks after miscarrying in January and it's just so fresh in my mind, I don't think I really dealt with it properly as I had the new pg to concentrate on, throughout which I have been anxious.
