Constant comments about weight- make me feel better!

I know people are joking but the CONSTANT comments about my size are getting me down, even though I know I'm at a sensible weight. I don't think people realise how much it's getting to me but if you're told something day in and day out for months it starts to play with your mind! Please can people ressure me with experiences/ common sense before I lose it and feel pushed into dieting or something! I am fed up of being called 'baby whale' etc.

I'm 5'9, 38 weeks and 11st 12lb having gained 2 st. Not the minimum, but I belive healthy.

(btw the way maybe I'm a little sensitive but in the past I've worked long and hard to completely overcome years of anorexia)

You should look up pictures of the gorgeous actor Milla Jovovich, who put on heaps of weight with her baby, and revelled in the opportunity to eat doughnuts.

What I find amusing is that some people say to me, ooh aren't you neat, and the other half say, aren't you enormous. I think they're just making conversation tbh. Enjoy your pregnant gorgeousnous and have another cake!

I think this is gearing up to as a good way to occupy myself in these waiting days- go and seek as many things to do locally as I can!

yeah it's a weird old time waiting for the due date.
time to catch up on your box sets!

ooh now i remember, think the NCT do a 'bumps and babes' meet up which you can go to before you pop. tbh i think new mums are quite happy to chat to not-quite-there mums because they feel they can really empathise! and it's nice to look back at how you were just a few weeks ago...

Sorry, missed the no car bit

Mitford - i think it is very much down to who they are comparing you to doesn't it? Their SIL may have put on nearly 5st and their best friend may have been sick all the way through and only put 10lbs.

Pisses me off though....

I'm sure you will find something to suit - there are lots of parent & baby things you become aware of once you've got one. I tried baby swimming for example, and Pilates (babies went too!)

And when people talk about the weight, just say pityingly, "Do you not know anything about pregnancy? Putting on two stone is perfectly normal."

I am 5' 4" and put on 2st 2lbs with my first (although large baby) - am 23 weeks now and the size I was at 27 weeks last time! So getting ready for those annoying comments... hang in there.

Im sorry your having such a rough time. I too have struggled with weight gain in this pregnancy (3rd for me). I have suffered with anorexia and bulimia on and off since i was 12 and have struggled in various ways through all of my pregnancies. At the start of this prengnacy i lost weight, but now at 34 weeks ive finally managed to put on a total of 2 stone, and i too and now filled with ppl telling me how big i am.

I think its the big change from being a very slim person, and epsecially if you have swelling (esp on your face) then its going to make you look a lot bigger than you are. I know its almost impossible but try to ignore any comments about weight, dont let then get to you. you have done a fabulous job of gaining so much (consider your problems) and so little (trust me, you could have gained 3 or 4 times that much) all at the same time.

Im too am not very good at socialising with other mums, my area is mostly filled with older mums too (im in my early 20s), so there isnt much in the way of mutual conversation!! netmums are really good, ive found a couple of ppl in my area thanks to the meet and mum thing they have.

all the best, shout if you want to talk, i sort of knnow how it feels to be in your position...good luck! not long to go now!
