Congratulations! On the weight loss and your pregnancy! I would speak to your leader and see if they can continue to take you - I'm not sure if they will or not as I don't think they can encourage weight loss in pregnancy??? Could be wrong though .

Congratulations on your pregnancy. And the weight loss.

Losing weight is not encouraged during pregnancy. You need the nutrients.

Plenty of time after the baby is born to get back to SW.

as i understand it you need to see your midwife and get permission to carry on with slimming world but not on a weight loss plan more of a safe weight maintenance plan - there is stuff about it burried deep in their website as i looked it up for a mate.

yeh i know they can keep you on i hadnt planned on going to meetings £5 a week to be told most weeks prob have put on

was just going to follow the principle at home with slimming world you can eat a lot of food, fruits veg, lean meat etc.

my other 2 pregnancies i piled the weight on and bloods were low also now i didnt eat enough green veg or meat.

i will try and find out a bit more online, and maybe just try and follow the healthy eating principles .

i would like to try and maintain m weight for as long as possible, i wouldnt want to lose any just keep an eye on it

I would not waste the money on going to meetings just to get weighed. Why don't you go once a month, so that you keep your motivation for healthy eating without trying to lose weight.

wonderif · 04/05/2010 11:06

i think to be honest i will weigh at home my hubby is following it too so i can encourage him to lose and he can encourage me to eat healthy.

i would strongly discourage againnst continuing to diet whilst pregnant. if you want to keep an eye on your weight gain, then thats sensible, but you have to gain weight (even if you are still overweight) no matter what. You can afford to gain less if you are clinically obese, but other than that its not worth trying to limit things.

By now you would have gained a lot of knowledge and practise at eating well balanced meals, thats good, just raise your calorie intake back up to a normal femals (around 2000-2500) for the pregnancy. but dont worry too much, just eat lots of fruit and veg, but dont stress too much if you really fancy a whole tub of ice cream!

Comgratulations

IME SW can keep you on the healthy eating vibe whilst pregnant. IIRC you need to have extra calcium (and possibly some extra Syns - don't quote me on that one). They have a pregnancy and bf booklet which I found quite useful.

If you had reached your target or got near it, I would ask the Consultant if you can sit down and set a reasonable fortnightly / monthly target to allow for healthy weight gain during pregnancy and if you stay within the targets then you shouldn't have to pay every week.

They should be OK with this as they will realise you are committed and will probably keep attending after the baby is born (especially if you might be paying for a few weeks to get back down to your pre pg target).

I agree it's a bit of a waste of time and money (not to mention a bit soul destroying) to be paying each week to measure your inevitable, healthy pg weight gain.

Good luck

I was doing SW before I got pregnant (I too lost 1.5 stones - in fact are you me? ) My consultant gave me a pack to gain permission from midwife, but I found I just couldn't stick to it and all I wanted to eat was naughty stuff. There's plenty of time to lose weight afterwards I think

LauraKB · 06/05/2010 12:54

I was at target at SW before I was pregnant and the others are right, they can still take you as long as you get permission from your midwife. I think they declare you as target after 8 weeks of meetings once you have told then you're pregnant but don't quote me on that.

I was like MadameCheese and found I couldn't stick to it very well, but then I got gestational diabetes so pretty much went back on the red plan and it really helped that.

Good Luck, x.
