Hi, I'm on an antenatal thread, due in late May / June and a couple of other women on the same thread have had this problem as well. I think it's fairly common, but just wanted some reassurance that it will settle down at some point. I have never had a migraine in my life, but when I was halfway through my first pregnancy at 39, had three or four episodes of the aura bit of migraine - zig zaggy lights - thankfully not with headache or throwing up. Had a few more soon after my son was born and then again shortly after I stopped bf, so it's clearly hormonal. I have just had it so much more this pregnancy (am 42 now)- again started around 20 weeks in, but am having every 5 - 3 days now. I know that thirst and disrupted nights are triggers but am drinking fluid 4+ litres day now. And I'm going to be a lot thirstier and have even more disrupted nights once the baby comes and I'm bf, so my heart is sinking a bit.

I drink a litre of water and eat something sugary as soon as it happens, and generally I can get it shifted in an hour or so, although they seem to be getting more persistent. Just wondering if other people have experience of similar or got any tips to try and prevent it.

In both pregancies my BP's been fine, so there is no thought that it's pre-eclampsia.Seeing docs on Tuesday anyway to talk about a c-section, so will mention, but no professionals have been concerned if I've mentioned before.

Hi I suffer from frequent migraines, although thankfully in pregnancy they lessen considerably. Here are a few of my triggers:
hormones
red wine
thirst
bright light
flashing light (strobes etc.)
hunger
tiredness
too much sleep (for example if I have a lie in)
I'm sure there are others I have forgotten.
Someone on here recommended Coca Cola (not tried it yet myself!)
Other than that, I can't really advise on treatment as I usually take medication but obviously that wouldn't be suitable at the the moment.
