Parentcraft classes - what do I need to take?

I picture these like the ones on TV/films where everyone sits on the floor and stares in horror at birth videos and does relaxation exercises. So do I need to be in comfy clothes like I would be in for yoga?

Or are they more class-like? Do I need a notepad and pen?

Do I take a cushion?
My maternity record?

Please tell me what to expect! (NHS classes).

Thanks in advance

er, nothing. Just yourself, and maybe a partner.

I went to one with my first it was chairs in a circle and a projector at the front (no cushions etc!) I wouldnt think they expect you to bring anything at least not the first week .

I didnt take anything, there was nothing practicle about my classes, all theory, but nothing that you would need to jot down

Sorry to gatecrash, but I've got parentcraft starting next week, what does it cover?? I had labour in motion this week which was about labour (obviously!) and so I imagine parentcraft is something different, but no idea what it's about... Do I need to take DH? It will be hard as the class is 1pm to 3.15pm and he is really snowed under at work at the moment so can't really take the day off - and his commute is so long that it wouldn't be worth going in before/after...

Started mine last night. Just dress normally, and take yourself (and your birth partner). Nothing special required.

Our first session covered preparing for labour and how a normal labour should progress, next is pain relief options, then abornormal events, then postnatal advice (at home with baby).

Ours involved a sparse round a semi-circle of chairs and a flipchart that remained unused. The classes were pain relief, breastfeeding and labour. Tbh not really more than someone talking at you about what you can read online, all theory. The only good thing was the opportunity to be around others in your situation (I felt normal for the classes with fellow whales!) and the chance to ask questions of anything you were unsure of. Nothing great though, don't get too excited.

Take some water and maybe a couple of snacks. Mine offered no tea or anything and as they were late morning there was a lot of tummy rumbling going on!
