Coccyx/lower back pain? Only 15 weeks!

As title suggests, I have this and it is only early days! I will be walking along and will get a sudden sharp pain in my coccyx area, more on the right side. And it can feel a bit achey in that area too. I think I remember very low back pain from last pregnancy, but that was towards the end, not at 15 weeks! Could it be pregnancy related so early on? I haven't done anything extreme, basic gym workouts, and not even any long walks for a couple of weeks.

Anyone had this?

Hi Domestic, just thought I'd reply as I'm only 10 weeks and had backache now for about 10 days - it's awful! It is very low down too and I think is made even worse from my office job. I'm just dreading getting really big as I'm thinking it's only going to get worse...! I haven't done any exercise since I found out (as I've had spotting, cramps etc. and been told to rest) but I'm going to start going on some long-ish walks with the light nights now on an evening as that's supposed to ease the pain. Good luck!

Thanks planner. I am a bit worried about doing my usual long walks because the pain will happen as I am walking. I guess my posture could have changed already and I need better shoes or something. Am going to see an osteopath this afternoon.

Have you thought about replacing your office chair with swiss ball?

Hi Domesticgoddess, yes I have this too and I'm also 15 weeks. It actually started about 4 weeks ago, nothing seemed to trigger it and as you say, it's in the coccyx area. It's much worse when I'm lying in bed at night and getting into bed is agony (and takes a while!)
If I'm careful about my posture it seems to ease, but has kept coming ang going. I hope it doesn't get worse, still a long way to go. Let me know how you get on with the osteopath x

Went to the osteopath and he is not sure it's specifically pregnancy related, other than the fact that the hormones are probably making more of a twist due to relaxing the ligaments - basically I am twisting at the hips, it's quite difficult to explain. He said no crossing of the legs, to change the way I sleep which is making it worse (best way to sleep is on side with pillow between legs, which I guess is how I will end up sleeping anyway). Have you ever had any neck problems? Because a twist in the body can come from the neck down (or from the feet up!

After the session it felt alot worse, and he said that's because we're untwisting me. I need to go back a few times - luckily osteopathy is covered on our health insurance!! I have seen this guy before and he is definitely good.
