can I hijack a little - I am TTC #1 and of succesful this month, I will have a scenario to challenge you all - am supposed to be going on a weekend away with friends from work - went last year and we enjoyed a few drinks, dips in a hot tub, and went horseriding!! None of which I will be able to do this time round if I am pg (which of course I may not be). I think the horseriding will be the easiest to get out of as I HATED it last year - such a wimp, so no one will be surprised if I chicken out of that. Was thinking of saying I had forgotten my swim suit to get out of the hot tub, and maybe confiding in one friend to sawp drinks with - but it's a tough one and I'm not sure i'll get away with it!!

You could just say you have a nasty case of athletes foot to get out of the hot tub. No one is likely to ask for a close inspection of your toes (although you would need to keep up the fiction by not padding around barefoot). And I would just go with accepting drink, raising it to your lips occasionally but not drinking. Or the ideal is if there is bottled beer being drunk -- you take a bottle, empty out the contents, refill with soft drink of your choice, and store beer in the kitchen. So you can finish your "beer" and go to the kitchen "to get another" but actually to refill the one you've got. If anyone else goes to the kitchen to fetch beer then no thanks, you're fine at the moment.
