For example, when you 8+4

I imagined, in order to keep a baby locked in - it would be hard and shut, non?

Mine is usually softer by then. The cervix usually softens and goes up early on in pregnancy but everyone differs as to exactly when this happens. It should become hard to reach.

ok, well... I can feel mine very easily and its not firm, or "up"

Not firm sounds about right I'm sure everyone's moves at different stages and yours will move up and back at some point

My midwife told me it should feel like a dog's nose. That really freaked me out for some reason....

First or 2nd baby?

If its not your first then cervix can often be open by a couple of centimetres, it doesn't normally shut completely after giving birth/labouring.

Yes had normal vaginal delivery with my first

this is my second

oohhh I'm interested in this, but from the later stages of pregnancy!

I'm 37+4 with DC3, my cervix is quite high and posterior, does that mean things are not likely to be happening anytime soon?

Or can it change quite quickly?

Not that I'm in any rush, just a bit intrigued by it all really! Clever thing the human body!!!

Sorry to hijack your post, onlywantsone, congrats on your pregnancy!

It can change very quickly
