Im 22 weeks preg with twins. Fot the past week of so i have been getting really bad back pain (at the top). Im not very tall (5ft2) and am not sure if there is actually enough room for 2 babies to grow properly. I just feel so stretched and sore

Hey, I'm sorry you are feeling so uncomfortable. Part of it will be your hormones, most likely, and as you are having twins your body will be producing rather alot!

The human body is amazing, and for those having singletons and feeling huge and stretched, it will be difficult to comprehend just how largely(!) different carrying twins (or more) is!

My twins are 17yrs old and I have never forgotten how (weirdly) my body managed. I am pregnant with "just the one" and I am telling you that although I feel and look the 8 months pregnant I am I KNOW you are feeling physically overwhelmed.

Your body really is amazing and it will do everything it can to nurture your babies.

I'm sorry, I'm not being much help. There're alot of mums on here who have had twins far more recently than me, hopefully they'll be more helpful.

Thanks for that. Just feels like im getting split in half. Was thinking about going to the midwife but dont wanna waste her time cos im pretty sure she will just tell me its because there are 2 and its not gonna get any easier.

You wont be wasting your midwifes' time by telling her how you feel.

I don't suppose it would be a help to hear it wont get any easier, but would it help to hear it does become more manageable? Because it does.

Hi again starshaker, as you know I'm having twins too, just adding my tuppence worth as per...!
I've been through various stages where I felt it couldn't possibly get any more painful or uncomfortable, but it has varied so much from one week to the next and even now at nearly 35 weeks there are days where I feel pretty much completely ok as long as I'm not doing much. I think it must be down to the babies' growth spurts as there have been days/weeks where the back/bump/pelvic pain has seemed horrendous but then it seems to ease off.
I'd say it's definitely worth talking to your midwife, she might be able to suggest some things to help or refer you to physio etc - if nothing else it will probably stop you from worrying about splitting in half!!
for you, hope it improves xx

Thanx again both of you. Think i will call the midwife in the morning and see if she has any tips/advice for me. Think its getting to me more since i have had very little sleep for the past few weeks. Between preg pain and toothache its a nightmare
