On leave and nothing left to clean!

I'm on maternity leave, 3 weeks to go and full of energy and I'm at a loss as there's NOTHING left to clean. EVERY cupboard/ loft space/ garage/ shelf/ unit etc. has been emptied and each item cleaned and put back. I feel like I need to go out now as it's almost too clean!

Sad aren't I?

Oh yes, I've repainted the flat too. ARGH.

take up knitting?

bluecardi · 26/04/2010 09:33

Hospital bag?

Poledra · 26/04/2010 09:33

Come round mine and clean there?

ajandjjmum · 26/04/2010 09:34

Ditto Poledra!

Alternatively, pamper yourself - you won't have time soon.

ShinyAndNew · 26/04/2010 09:37

Once you have finished at Poledra's there is plenty here to do. In fact I think you should come here first. It is my birthday after all. I have chocolate and cake and loads of mess for you

Alternatively you could go swimming?

dinkystinky · 26/04/2010 09:37

Batch cook food and stick in freezer - saves you having to cook/rely on take out in the first weeks after baby arrives...

Shaz10 · 26/04/2010 09:38

Lie on the sofa and put Homes Under the Hammer or whatever it is on.

FakePlasticTrees · 26/04/2010 09:45

go see a film.

Pampering yourself is a good idea - in fact, treat it as getting your appearance into good shape as you won't get the time for maintenance for a while, so pedicure, wax, get your hair done.

If you are planning on breast feeding, sort your wardrobe with feeding friendly clothes at the top of drawers etc such as vests, shirts etc.

fudgecat · 26/04/2010 10:12

gardening?

Knickers0nMyHead · 26/04/2010 10:13

My house could do with a good clean

Poledra · 26/04/2010 10:15

Oi, you lot, I was here first - and I probably have the grubbiest house

mazzystartled · 26/04/2010 10:15

definitely swimming - lovely and relaxing and good for getting baby in position

make freezer food - and also have friends round for lunch (get them in the mood for babysitting when the time comes)

and go out, or you'll just get the house dirty again...

sparkle12mar08 · 26/04/2010 11:07

Wondows on the inside? I was up a step ladder doing ours at 37weeks. Ds1 arrived just a couple of days later...

strawberrycake · 26/04/2010 12:09

poledra- if dropped off and picked up I'd probably consider it.

gardening-only a window box :-( and planted

swimming- nothing fits me

freezer food - husband strangely against it, slightly autistic I reckon, says he will cook

hospital bag- sorted

knitting - I'm shit beyond belief, I'd probably injure someone

pampering - HATE salons etc.

sooooooooo..

I'm painting a big canvas divided into 48 squares, a to z with each letter showing a book or tv character for bubs. What do you think? Silly or nice idea for the nursery?

of your energy. Even with my first pregnancy I was spending all my spare time asleep at your stage!

Pepsiginn · 26/04/2010 12:12

Have you cleaned behind the radiators? I found that little chestnut the other day and even bought a special radiator brush to do it with. Took me a good couple of hours to do all the radiators in the house and was VERy satisfying.
God i'm sad.

strawberrycake · 26/04/2010 12:56

pepsiginn-you're sad if I'm sad (did that at the weekend, then painted them!) I really mean it when I say there's nothing left uncleaned.

Dorothea- I was dying on my feet at work, but sods law dictates that I feel fine once I have nowt to do. Half way through my final week I started to cope with work. PReviously I had pretty much been staring blankly at my class for weeks on end (yet strangely they've made astounding progress according to recent tests, way more than any previous class, looks like we'll beat our usual SATs scores by 20 odd % even though they were predicted very low grades. Proof that self-directed learning and less teaching works. Listen up OFSTED!)

Ahhh - actually it's so refreshing to meet other people whom are embracing their inner clean-freak!
Well - if you really are well and truly out of stuff to clean - i too recommend knitting!

first1 · 26/04/2010 17:49

I've got 3 weeks to go too, and I really admire your energy. My house is super clean also- thanks Mum! I've been going on lots of long walks every day, tires me out but apparently helps baby engage if yours hasnt already, but also kills a good 2hours at a time rather than staying indoors all the time.
