Measuring small for dates?

I'm currently 38+2 and had a mw appointment today and was advised i'm measuring small for dates (36 weeks).

My 36 week appointment was with consultant so they didn't do the fh measurement.

MW mentioned measuring small again (I don't recall her or the other mw I've seen saying it previously?)

Previous pregnancy I had a two cord vessel so was monitored more and had a growth scan, however consultants appoint at 16 weeks they cheked that I didn't have a 2 cord vessel this time...

So checking through my notes;-

at 26+2 I measured 26cm
at 30+2 I measured 30cm
at 32+2 I measured 32.5cm
and today 38 weeks measured 36cm

Is this something to be concerned about? I have lost my appetite a bit but am forcing myself to eat, at my 36 week appointment I had a bit of a mixed bag of results in urine:-
3+ glucose (have prev had a trace and no family history of diabetes)
1 + ketones (which I believe can be due to lack of food/drink??)
1 + protein?

Today I have just protein + 1

Should I be worried? Is there anything I can do? Do I need to be scoffing more calories?

i measured small at 36 weeks. i said i thought it was because baby was lying across me rather than vertically. but MW sent me for a scan just in case
they laughed when i got there and asked what planet she was on,

i had a 9lb 11 baby! I knew he';d be big because he felt the same as my first 2 who were both over 9lb too, so i wasn't worried at all!

measurements are not that scientific. if baby is lying in a funny position it can alter it so i wouldn't worry too much!

I measure the same at 34 weeks that I measured at 28 weeks - 32 weeks. My midwife was just crap at measuring FH. It is not a science and can more often than not be wrong. I was sent for a scan at 34 weeks and the discovered she is measuring 34 weeks. I wouldn't worry if I was you.

Hiya

I don't think it's anything to worry about. With my dd I measured 3 weeks behind pretty much all the way through. She was born at 40+4 weighing a very respectable 6lb 10oz

I had this with both my pregnancies and was ent for growth scans etc. BOth babies were fine, DS1 6lb 12oz and DS2 6lb 14oz.

What was particularly annoying for me was that because of this I was denied the choice to use the birth centre at the hospital where I delivered DS2. Even though the growth scan had shown he was around the 6lb mark and they say you have to allow for +/- 25%. Anyway, it meant that I had a really crap labour because of it, so feel really aggreived!

I have a freind who measured large for her dates, they were seriuosly discussing inducuing her at one stage, she was having hrowth scans all the time. He was born one week before EDD and was under 7lb!

I think all this growth measurement stuff is very innaccurate IMO.

Thanksits reassuring to hear others haven't had probs.... Hubby thinks it iggt be cos I'm still very active I keep getting nagged to slow down! I have lively 2.9yrold and have painted the downstairs loo and regrouted the bathroom this week! I guess I need to try to slow down a bit before the crazy nb days start again!!

butterscotch I think some of us just make smaller babies And if it comes to a choice of delivering a 10lb'er vs a 7lb'er I know which one I'm going for!! As for slowing down, while you have the energy you might as well use it, then you have a perfect excuse to sit on your bum for the last two weeks...

...as much as you can with a 2.9 yr old. I have a 4 yr old dd and thankfully she is allowing me a break for about an hour most afternoons!
