8 weeks, bright red blood, no pain - surely it can't end well?

Hello

I am 8+2 weeks pregnant after a mm in Dec 2008 and 14 months of ttc since..

I have had sticky brown discharge on and off since 5 weeks, but have had 3 scans so far and all fine - heartbeat seen each time.

Then, from nowhere last night as I left work, I had a gush of bright red blood with 1 signigicant clot. There has been no pain and it stopped when I got home. I haven't bled over night either but there was a red streak when I wiped this morning..

I can't believe that I saw a heartbeat on Tuesday and this has happened 2 days later?

Can anymore offer any positive experiences and stop me going out of my mind?

Surely it can't be good?

yeah, mine were both 'threatened miscarriages' too.

Same thing happened to me at 8 weeks. The bleed was so bad I was convinced that it was the end and was shocked to see a heartbeat on screen. It really was the best thing I'd ever seen. That little heartbeat is now 3 and a half years old and asleep upstairs.

Good luck!

My pregnancy with DS was like this. I had a massive clot and bright red bleeding, went for scan they said threatened mc ( I had previously had a mm ), one Dr even suggested it might have been a twin.

All cleared up by 9 weeks, he's 6 years old now.

Thanks so much - all your experiences are really encouraging - can I ask if any of you had pain or cramping with your 'threatened miscarriages' or id it was just blood loss?

Thanks and I hope you're all enjoying some sunshine?

Following on from my prev mess, I had no pain or cramping, just bleeding x

I had this - it was a sub-chorionic haematoma. I had a lot of bright red blood and some pain as well. My dd is now 9mo and sitting next to me Hope all is ok.

MoChan · 25/04/2010 11:02

No real pain when I had this, but I did feel a bit tender.

I am still experiencing dark brown stick mucus when I wipe and after a bowel movement (sorry!), did any if you have this? How long did it take for your bleed clear up and go?

I am just so strung out - I don;t know if a miscarriage is happening or not.

I can't concentrate on anything. DH is losing patience with me.

My bleed lasted til I was 14 weeks (intermittent). I know how you feel - it's very hard. I had several first trimester m/c before so I found it v hard to believe this one would work out. I just had to take it one day at a time.

I have been bleeding with this pregnancy from week 5 (red and brown blood), also a lot of cramps and pain in lower back. Just had a scan and all still ok amazingly - but still only 8 weeks so just keeping my fingers crossed.

I have had two previous pregnancies and bled a lot with both (red and brown blood)- first ended with a miscarriage at 11 weeks and second ended with my beautiful 20 month old daughter.

It is such a stressful time. I think it is worse after a bowel movement because it pushes any build up of blood out. The way I try and cope with it is to think the baby is ok today and i will deal with tomorrow tomorrow. Oh and loads of chocolate... Look after yourself.

I agree with Lcy - also from 12 weeks onward I used a doppler (angelsounds)for reassurance. That helped me a lot - but I know it makes some women more anxious, esp if they can't detect the hb.

Amarilis · 25/04/2010 17:13

Ladylush - how bizarre - I have just be researching dopplers!

I think it will help me keep sane!

I have been following this thread and finding it reassuring to know I'm not alone.

I thought I was 7 weeks when I experienced cramp followed by a fairly significant bleed earlier in the week ( at this time we were stranded abroad due to ash cloud). I then had spotting and a passed a large clot and continuous period like pains. I was absolutely convinced it was all over! However, I had a scan on Friday which showed a normal looking pregnancy for 6 weeks and a large blot clot. I was blown away that it looked ok. Have a another scan it 2 weeks.

The cramps are still ongoing and I'm trying not to get my hopes up. It's all I can think about but just need to take a day at a time.

I have my fingers crossed all goes well for you Lcy.

Lcy · 25/04/2010 19:26

Thanks - fingers crossed for you too. Must of been very stressful being stuck away from home with all that going on.

How are you feeling now Amarilis?

Nancy10 · 25/04/2010 19:36

I've just come back from a lovely day out with my family. Went to the loo and I noticed a brown sticky discharge. It's now pinky red. No pain and I'm not dripping with blood. I only notice the bleeding when I go for a wee and it's on the tissue. I'm wearing a sanitary towel and there is nothing on it. I'm 10 weeks and have a scan on Friday. I have never experienced this before in my previous 2 pregnancies with my boys!

Amarilis · 25/04/2010 19:59

It's so horrible, I know how you feel, it really makes you panic. From what I have read on here, it can be fine, sometimes not.

Please, please come back to me and let me know how you go at the scan?

Xx

Amarilis, I found that the brown stuff (following the v. red bleed) lasted weeks. I think it almost lasted up until the second bleed at 14 weeks - I seem to remember being clear of it for just a few days, and thinking "cool, it's all gone", then the second one happened. And again, I had the brown stuff for a good few weeks following the second bleed.

Sorry about you other ladies suffering with the same thing. Fingers crossed for you all.

ladylush · 26/04/2010 10:57

Amarillis - I think I was about 12 weeks when I first detected the hb with the doppler. My advice is to be really patient when trying to find it as it took a lot of practice. Some women are further along before they detect the hb (e.g 14 wks). It was very low down around the groin region - thought you might appreciate the tip Have everything crossed for you and the other ladies on here
