Membrane coming away from uterus wall - Anyone else had this?

Hi just wanted to know if anyone else has this or had this during there pregnancy.

I am 18wks pregnant and following a scan last week it was noted there is a small gap on the top part of my uterus where the membranes should be attached to the wall. I have had on & off bleeding through out my pregnancy. 6 - 9.5wks very heavy then stopped then from 14wks have had a mucky blood/old blood discharge and last week a couple of small blood clots. The consultant thinks this is why I may be having the small blood clots as the blood is passing thru the gap. None of the blod clots have been fresh blood, all old blood. I was taking asprin which I have been advised to stop which I have and she said the membranes could attach them self again or they may stay like they are. Other then that the consultant hasn't said much more about it. It was never picked up in my 12wk scan so Im guessing it happend from 14wks when the discharge started.

Has anyone else had this and if so what was the outcome and are there any risks?

Can you speak to your midwife or consultant again? It's alway worth asking again and it might need monitoring. Hope all goes well for you xx

Check with your doctor, but sounds to me like it might be a 'subchorionic bleed' - lots of info on google if you look it up (also called subchorionic hemorrhage or clot), though as usual beware the horror stories, which sound common as they congregate on messageboards but are actually very rare!! I've had these in two pregnancies, at 9 weeks, and both cleared up (ie had become invisible on scan) within a month. They're more common in first trimester, but can happen later too. In vast majority of cases, the separation resolves with no issues. Problem comes if it starts enlarging and compromising the sack, but I think that happens in a tiny minority of cases. Advice is to rest wherever possible, though. Certainly no-one seemed at all concerned in my case (except me of course ).
