call your midwife. do you know what blood group you are? You should probably go to hospital and get checked out. There they will monitor you and if you're rhesus negative they will probably want to give you an anti-D injection. I had a very similar scene a few weeks ago so I know how you feel. I found it very reassuring to get checked out on labour ward. All was fine btw.

Let us know how you get on.

JodieO · 19/04/2010 14:14

Go in to get checked out, now, imo. I hope things will be ok.

aerokitkat · 19/04/2010 14:16

I would get in touch with the midwife right away just to be on the safe side. A little reassurance goes a long way!
My little nephew ran into my belly full force last week. I couldn't rest for a couple of days for worrying. With hindsight I should have just got checked out right away. (Everything's been fine since btw).

i fell, bump first on some stone steps when pg with ds and was fine. the baby is pretty well protected inside, but if you are at all worried, go and get checked out even if it's just to put your mind at rest.

JackBauer · 19/04/2010 14:32

Lots of people bang their bumps, they are well padded and hidden behind pelvic bone mostly, espeically at 18 weeks.
Having said that, call your mw as nothing is worse than stressing about the baby, at least put your mind at rest

JodieO · 19/04/2010 19:33

I knew someone that fell late in pregnancy and her baby sadly died because of it Not worth the risk, they aren't that well padded to not have to worry. Also, by 18 weeks, (especially if not a first pregnancy) you can have quite a pronounced bump; I know I did.

I had my hefty 2-3 yr old doing knee dives and drop kicks into me throughout my pregnancy, scared the heck out of me, had a few check overs at antinatal clinic, my LO was fine though.
No harm in getting checked over to put your mind at rest x

Well an update ladies, went to get checked out, heard jellybeans heart and had to go back this morning for scan, everything looks ok, apart from the placenta, is lying low over the cervix, and my cervix is open a bit (happens with you have had a few pregnancies)just keeping an eye on me, got a usual scan in 3 wks, get to know the sex cant wait, and then i qualify for labour ward, the doctor said if anything happens, a baby can survive and have survived as early as 23 wks prem, so the longer i go the better, full term i hope.

oh wow!
So it was really good that you went to get checked out!
Sounds like you're taking that news very well.
Will they put a stitch in your cervix or something?

whirleywoo72 · 20/04/2010 20:00

no, they are just gonna be checking me, and he said because i have had a few pregnanies, it does open a bit x
