6 week and lots of nausea

Hi all

Sorry if this is a repeat question - I think I lost it when posting.

I'm six weeks and (I know I'm nothing special) but the past few days I've had a lot of nausea from when I get up to when I go to bed. No vommitting, just a general queasiness/nausea that makes me feel very light-headed and horrible.

I've been drinking home-made ginger tea, lots of water, eating small amounts of boring food, and wearing acupressure bands.

Has anyone else got any advice for how to keep it at bay? I've got a stack of work on and the idea that it will be like this for weeks is daunting.

Thanks very much

Jo

No other advice - I drank lemon & ginger tea (Twinnings I think do a nice one) and nibbled on gingernut biscuits throughout the day - as soon as the nausea stopped I couldn't face any more ginger for a long time! I think you're doing all the right things though. I'm 4+3 now and had first wave of nausea yesterday so need to stock up! It'll pass soon. A pain when you have loads of work to do though, I agree.

still got it myself at 15 weeks, if none of the traditional methods work such as ginger, travel sickness bands etc then eat what you can little and often, if it's any consolation you kind of get used to it and if it's really bad there are pills you can get prescribed (but they made me feel rubbish). sorry not a lot of help but rest assured you are not alone

Hi seasister, I'm 10+5 and have had constant nausea, light-headedness and occasional vomiting since week 5. It came on really suddenly and knocked me sideways, plus as this is my first pregnancy I wasn't at all prepared. I thought it'd be like a mild hangover, how wrong was I.

I've had no choice but to get signed off work until it passes, as it's been so bad that I can't leave the house and is worst in the middle of the day and early evening. I'm usually a very hardy lass but the intensity of the nausea has really been a surprise. Weeks 8-10 have been the worst and now it seems very slightly less intense.

Some things can ease it momentarily, but for me never get rid of it completely. The only advice I can give is to eat little and often, don't wait until you're hungry before eating again as that's when the nausea hits you badly - keep dry crackers or biscuits on you and nibble them all the time. Different things work for different people, you'll figure out what foods works best for you. Eat a few at night-time if you wake up for a wee, and first thing in the morning too.

Apparently it starts to ease off significantly by week 12 and I bloody hope it does! If you can get signed off work, then do try - my doctor wrote a nice letter to my employers saying my nausea was so bad I couldn't carry out my usual daily activities, which was bang on. Good luck!

Oh god, I'm so sorry - that sounds awful. As it happens today I was sick twice this morning and then completely without nausea since. Fingers crossed especially since I work for myself....! BTW, I'm in Brighton too! x Jo

I hate it.... I constantly have the nausea too and no sign of throwing up (thank god!)... all the remedies work temporarily and it comes back 10-30 mins after the snacks, ginger tea, etc. One more thing that I take and helps a little is an extra B6 tablet in addition to my vitamins... it helps a bit but aparently there is nothing really you can do with this feeling... arggghhhh

Hey seasister, you might be one of the 'lucky' ones then who just have morning pukes and can then get on with it! Hope you feel better soon. The one positive is that puking/nausea means you're defo pregnant and all is going well.

And you're in Brighton too, that's cool. I'm looking forward to meeting loads of new Brighton mum friends when I start the NCT classes etc, a whole new world eh!
