Helo all -
38 weeks, booked in for a c section in a week, baby is breech so home waterbirth went out the window at 37 weeks with no warning, have done my fair share of crying and worrying about it, now just have to get used to it I guess! For a lot of reasons (high blood pressure, strep, past medical history)I know c sect isn't the worst thing that could happen, so now giving up on all the moxibustion and bum in the air malarky and trying to be happy that we know when baby is going to be here, and getting excited about meeting him or her.

Still feeling fine, not tired, have lots of energy and friends are also off work at the moment due to school holidays - weather is lovely, at least for now, so what would be your suggestions for my last week before impending motherhood (and sleep is top of my list!) all practical, organisational, recovery made easier and not so practical-just-because-I-can suggestions welcome!

SLEEP

Hermya321 · 12/04/2010 20:19

Go to Starbucks, have a nap and watch some rubbish TV!

jstock · 12/04/2010 20:21

lol...I was going to put SLEEP!!

Eliza70 · 12/04/2010 20:30

Go to the cinema on your own, ditto Starbucks etc, have a pedicure and facial, read a book, do some batch cooking and rest!!

muddler · 12/04/2010 21:49

Do absolutely bu**er all and enjoy every second!

OmicronPersei8 · 12/04/2010 21:52

Sleep. One of my friends says it's like putting deposits in the bank of sleep - you'll be making plenty of withdrawals soon enough.

Also stock up on bung in the oven food (whether batch cooked or otherwise) for post c-section.

Swim
Shop for something pretty to wear when you don;t have a bump (maybe online)
Facial, pedicure
Long, leisurely lunch with friends
Dinner out with partner at least once
And sleep

BexJ78 · 12/04/2010 21:57

Sleep. Cinema. Relax and enjoy doing nothing!

geordieminx · 12/04/2010 21:59

Sleep.

Starbucks with magazines/books.

Beauty treatments.

Buy yourself something nice to wear for coming out of hospital - nothing tight though! Even if its just a pretty smock top/new scarf or necklace, it'll make you feel nice!

PrivetDancer · 12/04/2010 21:59

Go out for a lovely dinner or two with dh

BexJ78 · 12/04/2010 22:02

Also, souuld have said, take your time eating a meal...savour the food and the ability to eat a meal without interruption!

holytoast · 13/04/2010 10:19

All sound like good suggestions to me....thinking pedicure as haven't seen my feet in months and assume I still wont be able to reach them for a while...

go and see an exhibition - if are in london why don't you go and see the grace kelly one at the V&A?

i think all i did was sleep, eat and watch crap TV and read. This time (DS will be at childminder) i am going to try and make use of time and see friends etc..

DomesticG0ddess · 13/04/2010 11:34

Definitely go out for some meals, we went out for quite a few in the last couple of weeks. I wouldn't sit around watching crap TV - you'll veg out in front of that in the years to come when you're stuck indoors every night on your own! Call friends, invite some over, meet some girlfriends for lunch - you won't see some of them for a while, and when you do, it won't be quality time. I had my hair cut/coloured so at least that would look nice after the birth, had wax, pedicure too.

But, yes most of all sleep and have lie-ins. Good luck, I had emergency c-section, and I have heard that an elective is a very positive experience.

MummyAnnabella · 13/04/2010 12:15

go to cinema during day and eat hagan daas - one of the most enjoyable things i did in my last week

have a pedicure to look and feel nice for hospital and post birth

have a bikini wax - as otherwise hospital will shave you with horrid electric razor

have lunch with the girls somewhere nice and sit gossiping for about 3 hours

oh and a tip for section - take a nightie for immed after your section as opposed to pjs as it is easire for catheter (and surgical stockings if needed).

RibenaBerry · 13/04/2010 12:46

Well, I was finding sleep hard at night at this point, so on a variation on a theme, I would say ...

take lots of afternoon naps!

jwiggles · 13/04/2010 12:52
  • Go to the hairdressers and have your hair done - cut / blowdry / etc to feel pampered for a bit.
  • Pedicure / manicure

  • Meals out with your other half

  • Cinema / DVD night with lots of popcorn and ice-cream

  • Shopping (probably online) for something nice like clothes or a pamper pack of smellies, or some nice jewellery

  • Sit in the garden and enjoy the peace and quiet....

Good luck and hope all goes ok!

PacificDogwood · 13/04/2010 12:55

Just want to second going to the cinema - I went and saw a lot of dross movies in last couple of weeks whilst expecting DS1 and loved every minute of it .

Should you ever have another DC you'll not be able to indulge yourself again like that in the last week...

Good luck with your delivery!
