I am 37+4 with baby no 1.
Am 4/5 engaged but baby is back to back, and I am concerned about ending up in back labour.
My SPD getting worse so hands and knees is very uncomfortable to stay in for more than a few mins.
Any brilliant ideas about positions to help the baby turn back outwards?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Worth a try?

I was told sitting on a chair backwards with a leg each side of the backrest, not sure how that would be with SPD. Just generally not lounging back on the sofa!

I tried that, hands and knees and lots of sitting and leaning over my birthing ball. My little man didn't turn but also never engaged past 1/5. There are lots of people with positive stories, really hoping for much more co-operative baby this time around!

Haven't tried spinningbabies but heard good things about it. wanted to say that my ds was the right way around the day before my labour started and then flipped back to back at the start of labour. so don't let anyone tell you your baby won't turn this late in pregnancy. Hope your baby spins!

Hi,
Just wanted to say that my baby was back to back but did turn very late labour. I think my labour was fine really - or rather it seemed very normal compared with everyone else I knew at the time!

I did go on all fours a little in labour to help with back pain but in the main I sort of stood up and leant on things (like the bed and wall) during contractions. In the very late stages I was in the bath on my side then I got out pushed the baby out on my back on the bed.

How would some of those positions fit with your SPD?

I don't have lots of advice as I tried lots of things in late pregnancy with my DS2 as he was lying back to back before labour, and nothing worked,

I spent lots of time sitting/rocking on a gym ball, and on all fours among other things

however he turned during labour, even though I was on my back throughout labour, and it ended up being a brilliant birth

Thanks for all the comments so far, every idea helps!
Can do different positions with my hips, just have to change regularly to avoid too much pressure on one side. Thanks for the spinning babies link, that talks about being balanced while taking up positions.

hi, dd was back to back but turned during labour on her own. I read some statistics that this usually happens, also that babies that start off in the right position can turn back to back. It reassured me at the time!

My DD was back to back at 39 weeks and I did everything I could to try to shift her which I think she did. However, the little bugger treasure turned back during labour despite leaning forwards and was born that way (face up as such). Saying that, labour was fine, didn't really feel it in my back and I didn't tear which you can do with face up babies.

get on your hands and knees

I had SPD in my last pregnancy and spent a lot of time from 34 weeks onwards kneeling on a pillow, leaning forward onto a yoga ball. The ballwas soft enough not to squash my boobs/tummy but gave enough support to be comfortable.
