Piles But Not Painful?

Wanted to know if this was normal. Am 32 weeks pregnant and have had them since week 12. I have used Anusol cream, but they don't shrink or go away! They just seem to retreat and reappear whenever they hell they see fit! Am terrified at thought of having to give birth to anus as well as baby, but am pretty sure that's going to be the case Really don't understand as thought they'd hurt or be itchy but only ever get pain from them when constipated (gross, I know). Is there anyone that can help me on this???

I have them too. Yuck I know. Same in previous pregnancies. Was very uncomfortable in first labour... esp as I was pushing for around 2 hours.

I applied lots of cream in early labour the 2nd time and delivered DS in water (only pushing 20 mins) and it wasn't a problem at all.

Hi BethanyBear, I'd just enjoy the fact that they're not hurting. Mine were the same first time round - I wondered what the fuss was all about...

Am now 27 weeks pregnant with DC2 and Christ Almighty they've made themselves known this time!!! Anusol is now my best friend (apart from Gaviscon)!

Oh, that's good then Have been worrying about it a lot! Am having a water birth as well and worried about being on knees from fear of making them worse lol. Well, as long as am not the only one Thank you!!

Apparently apples are one of the best things for getting rid of them!

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but at 37 wks and with a very un-lovely set of piles am wondering whether they somehow disappear after birth and our bodies are back to normal or do they just stay? Mine were very, very painful when they first appeared but not now, just a nuisance.

MumNWLondon · 08/04/2010 10:04

onebyone - I think they might shrink a bit onm their own but each time GP has refered to me to clinic in hospital where they do something to them as outpatient (not painful) to shrink them down a bit.

Thanks MumNWLondon. Will remember to mention it to GP post-birth. Defo don't want them hanging around afterwards.
