Swollen Ankles at 24 weeks?

Don't remember getting them this early with my other pregnancies. Left one is literally flapping as I walk . Had them for about 2 weeks now. Am a bit overweight, I will admit!

Hands and face are not swollen, I know that can mean pre-eclampsia. Blood pressure was fine when checked 2 weeks ago.

Should I be worried about it or it is normal this early on??

It might be worth getting checked out but, I'm currently 33 weeks and seems to have had swollen ankles for most of this pregnancy, like you, very different to my previous ones.
If BP was fine, there probably isn't anything to worry about

Definitely worth just getting checked over again- ask the midwife to check your BP and do a urine sample to check for protein in urine, as like you said it can be an indicator of PE. I think some ladies just find they swell earlier on than others but not worth taking any risks. Do they go down after resting with them up or overnight? Good luck x

Thanks Ladies - managed to get an appointment with the midwife for tomorrow. They were not as bad this morning especially as DH raised the bottom of the bed so they were elevated over night.

Ah well if this is going to continue, it looks like I am going to have a good excuse for laying on the sofa more for the next few months .

It says in a pre-eclampsia leaflet my m/w gave me that:

"Swollen ankles alone are no longer considered to be associated with pre-eclampsia, but are a normal symptom of pregnancy"

Sudden swelling of the face is more of a worrying symptom now apparently. I was horrendously puffy of the face (and I had sausage fingers) with pre-eclampsia with my first pregnancy.
