Hello,

Just wondering if anybody is having the same difficulties, Just can't sleep at night. I'm napping for an hour or so then find myself staring at the clock this has been going on for three night now.

So tired, any suggestions? x

I get this occasionally. My midwife suggested getting up and going downstairs to watch tv or something.

It's one of those situations isn't it? Too tired to get up but can't get back to sleep.

I tend to read.

yeap my usual wakings are from 1am - 5am ish....and i struggle to get to sleep i now just lay in bed now as i can't be asked to get up!!!

i use boots pillow spray and play games on my iphone in the dark to get me sleepy.

I've been like this since 12 or so weeks now 35 weeks gave up work last week which has helped slightly as i don't have to worry so much about staying awake in meetings

Way hey more people like me.... reckon i am single handedly keeping the library in business

If you are going to read - be careful what type of books you read.

Worthy, literary ones can send me back to sleep within a page but easy thriller types ones I can read for two hours. The crap thing is though that I want to read the thriller ones at the moment.

I have regular insomniac nights ........ watch tv catchup on my laptop usually, but last night just lay awake for hours ........... it is soooo boring .... it is the loo trips which wake me up, then I cant get back to sleep. Only 5 weeks to go though, thank goodness. Then a whole new chapter of sleeplessness will start .........

Hide clock in cupboard so you don't know how long you've been awake (I find the 'I've been up since 1.26 and now it's 3.19' makes me feel worse). Try counting back in 3s from 300 if you are awake because you are thinking. If you are just awake then I suggest boring books.

I am the same, really struggle to sleep sometimes. I have found that doing really deep breathing and concentrating on breathing in and out slowly can help calm your head down and put you to sleep but sadly it doesn't always work.

Have you thought about getting the hypnobirthing 'Rainbow Relaxation' CD? I've never yet made it to the end without nodding off . I have no idea what she says after about the first 5 minutes. DH suffers with insomnia (he's a big worrier) and he's usually snoring within minutes too.
