Maternity trousers for a funeral??

Sadly I need to attend 2 funerals in the next 2 weeks. Both very elderley relatives. . I need to get some black trousers to wear as I have nothing suitable to wear that'll fit my bump which will be 34 & 35 weeks for the services. Can anyone suggest any? My internet is playing up and won't let me load many websites for some really annoying reason. I don't want to spend too much money as they'll only be worn twice, but need to be comfortable to withstand a fair bit of sitting in the car. One is 80 miles away, the other 120 miles. Thanks for the suggestions in advice. And Happy Easter!

Sorry for your losses

New look and H&M are both reasonably priced and should do plain black trousers.

www.funmum.com/maternity-clothes-shop/style/maternity-smart-trousers/bengalin-trousers-long-black

If you can load that site, those are the best maternity trousers I ever bought. Looks like they have a next day delivery option

Sorry to hear you've had such bad news.

Shame about the internet as I was going to suggest Ebay. I got nice black trousers from Next. Re the comfort thing you could always take more casual/comfy trousers for the journey and do a quick change?

sorry for your losses

i found dorothy perkins maternity trousers to be good, they do a type with a waistband that's adjustable with buttons so they don't fall down, like these

becksydee · 03/04/2010 12:05

(btw, if you're short & a size 18 i have some i'd be happy to post to you!)

i've got two pairs of black trousers from next and they are really comfortable. (i'm 34 weeks). I got them in a the sale a bargain at £10 each but they are usually around £25 which isn't too bad

Sorry for your losses.

The next ones that are stretchy but smart (I wore mine to work with a smart jacket) and have a foldover top are fab. Directory should get them to you next day or the larger store will stock them.

Where abouts are you as I have black stuff you could borrow is you are a 12/14 if you are near Somerset.

Next black slouch maternity are very comfy and look good. One word of warning though, they do shrink in the wash, am 5ft 6/inner leg of 31 and returned the standard size for the long, which has now shrunk to the perfect size.

I have these from new look for work, they look smart and are comfy to wear.

These are amazing even when heavily pregnant. I wore them to my gran's funeral. Sorry for your loss.

I have the new look (over the bump) basic £12 maternity trousers www.newlook.com/browse/productDetail.jsp?icCategory=cat30100&icProduct=144469601 which I have worn since I was 10 weeks until now 39+ (still wearing them) they are basic but comfy and very good value

Kity · 04/04/2010 09:41

Next have a pair of jersey trousers for £17 and they are SUPER comfy, and they look smart as they are heavy and a little bit shiny, they're not at all what I was expecting.
They don't look much on the website but I've not had mine off since I got them! (well only to wash obviously) and mine are keeping up with my ever expanding waistline nicely!

newmomma · 04/04/2010 11:57

I second Next - they're great for important pieces like trousers, but useless for things like tops.

newmomma · 04/04/2010 12:01

Quick note...

I wore my Next maternity trousers (mentioned above) to a funeral also.

I was 38 weeks.

I had a huge contraction in the crematorium car park, my waters went in the car on the way to the wake (cx #2 - still in denial) and I was 4cm by the time I got to the nearest hospital... With no notes or hospital bag.

Sure it won't happen for you at 34/35 weeks, but I'm certain it was the emotion that kicked things off so quickly for me. Just make sure you take your hospital bag with you in the boot of the car or something. It can't hurt?

Thanks everyone! I'm going to hit the high street tomorrow and try a few on rather than going on a judgement call online.

Newmomma - Oh dear me! I'll definitely have a bag in the car especially as we'll be going 120miles for one of them!
