Blood pressure 90/52 - seems low...

Saw the midwife this morning and my blood pressure is 90/52 which she remarked on as being low.

I've been feeling quite faint and dizzy, particularly in the mornings. MW also took blood to test for low iron levels.

Is there anything I can do about low bp, other than MW's suggestions of drinking more liquids and eating little and often?

I had low blood pressure as well. Drink coffee (if you do) that helps.

Keep something to eat beside your bed so you can get up slowly in the morning.

Floradix is a good nutrient supplement if you have a low iron level.

My BP went that low in PG, I was very slightly anaemic, one of the nurses I work with reckon that's why.

I understand that you should'nt have caffinated drinks at the same time as iron supplements, so dont spend money on Floradix and counteract its effect with coffee! (which is what I did before being educated on MN!!).

that's true - coffee, tea and milk all inhibit the absorption of iron.

Mine is this low too and I feel crap - no energy, very dizzy - not fun

Mine is always 100/60. I feel faint a lot.

I tend to eat often and remain seated as much as possible.

As far as bp goes, my mw says low is much better than high.

Ooh, I hate it when healthcare professionals tell you with glee how they're thrilled at your low blood pressure in pregnancy - 'no pre-eclampsia for you!' I was at 80/50 for most of my two pregnancies and it was miserable. The obvious solutions are lots of liquids (water), lots of coffee, regular food, and salted peanuts or anything salty. I used to keep salted peanuts on me when I was walking around, just in case I felt dizzy.

When my pressure was measured last week it was 80/60 (and I'm NOT pregnant), and the doctor thought it was due to the sudden temperature rise after the long winter.

Yes, BlauerEngel - I was describing to mw how dreadful I've been feeling and she was delighted my bp was low. She did concede that I looked pale.

Mine's been the same both pg - about 90 over 50. It went lower with hyperemesis, but is back up to those dizzy heights again.
It is bloody rotten and noone cares as it doesn't harm you ro the kid, unless you fall over (which if you are like me you will a lot!) I am a keen coffee drinker and also drink tonnes of fluids.
Sympathy - it is bloody annoying.
