C&W or St Thomas?

Would really appreciate other people's opinions/experiences to help me make a decision... both are nearby and not sure which to go for. Am nearly 10 weeks and not sure whether this will present a problem for me now?

St Thomas' is the most amazing hospital! the facilities and technology are second to none and you can give birth overlooking the houses of parliament - BUPA eat your heart out!

I am having DC2 at St Thomas's (having had DS1 at St Georges's!). I have been overwhelmed by how friendly, efficient and helpful everyone is. Have never had to wait an unreasonable time for anything. In fact, have been there this am with DS1 to get my anti-D and they saw me straight away so that my LO didn't get bored! Was in and out within the hour!

I second the views too!

I have birth at St Thomas' - the birth itself was great, although the nurses afterwards were quite unhelpful - I had really bad SPD and was bullied into 'tidying up' my cubicle even though i was in agony! Also didn't get much help with breastfeeding. Would still recommend it though.

Made you tidy up? What on earth for! That sounds terrible... Still am thinking will apply for both (can you do that) and hopefully for for St Thomas's.

Anyone else?

you can't apply for both

Thomas' is fine, expect long waits for clinic appts and if you are late for a scan they will turn you away
Parking is difficult but I expect it's similar at C&W

I didn't have to wait at all for appointments at st. thomas i thought they were super quick and efficient! For my nuchal they did the scan and bloods and i had my risk numbers within the hour it was amazing!

Agree with Katiecubs on NT scan and bloods. They took me on time and we waited about 30mn for the results. Great to have them the same day and on the spot.

A good friend of mine just delivered at St Thomas' (I am only 15 weeks). Great clinical care but poor after care/post natal care but that is consistent across all big London hospitals from what I hear. C&W is no different.

On DC2 at St. Thomas' and they really are fantastic. I had a lot of complications with my first pregnancy and labour and they were supportive throughout, made me feel incredibly cared for and well looked after.

The wait for appointments was sometimes a bit long and the waiting room gets busy, but I was never rushed through any of my appointments and a lot of attention was paid to me.

After-care wasn't great the first night (when I needed it most after C-section), but I soon worked out that if I asked for any help I needed (obviously very politely) they were only too eager to help. I think you become so used to things being done for you during labour that you forget to ask once you're out of it.
