Bad week. I am 38 weeks pg, long, complicated pg. Have a CS next week and am scared stupid. My usually adorable 20 month old DS is teething and ill so has been up every night for the past few weeks and is just misrable and demmanding.

To add insult to injury my beloved dog became suddenly ill on Wednesday and I had to have her put to sleep and my DH has just been recalled to work and will now be on 12 hr nights until a day before my CS.

Right now I can honestly say I just want to sit and cry. Have no idea how I am going to manage.

Hi there Momdeguerre

Sending you huge hugs. You will manage I'm sure-is there a grandparent or friend who can have your DC for a night just so you can catch up on some sleep? Personally life seems much more manageable once I've had a little bit of sleep.

Sorry I'm not much help but just wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you and there's nothing wrong with sitting down and having a good cry either

Thanks. Am not usually so pathetic but I just feel desperate. I know I need sleep and my crazy hormones are making me worse.

Struggle a bit to get help from family as they are very kindly helping out while I have my CS and they also help while I work. I finish work on Thurs so hoping i might feel better after that too.

It's not pathetic to panic - I'm panicking too at 37 weeks, with a 19 month old who is also teething and spent most of last week in bed with me.

But yesterday I visited a friend's 3 week old baby and compared to a frenetic toddler they really do just sleep all the time and are completely oblivious to the world - it reminded me that I'm getting a stationary, relatively easily-pleased and very lightweight baby in 3 weeks and not a second toddler!

And we'll get rid of these enormous bumps and be able to hug our toddlers properly again, which should cheer them up.

And my DS was fascinated by the baby yesterday, so hopefully the novelty value will get us through the first few weeks as we recover from the birth.

x

Porcupine - that does sound good! My DS is usually so sweet and I know he can't help feeling ill but it just feels a bit relentless.

Hope it is easier when baby arrives - for us both!
