Can anyone suggest a TENS machine please

I'm looking at hiring one. First birth is in May and I have the dreamlike, idealistic intention of doing it as drugfree as possible. But I'm sure I'll be in for a rude awakening! I've looked at renting one from Mothercare but there's a few on there and not sure which I should go for. If anyone has any suggestions for a particular type, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you

No reason you'll have a rude awakening - I managed each time with just G&A and tens - a great combo IMO - was holding G&A in one hand and tens controller in the other LOL!

I have rented one from babycare tens - its the elletens - there is a more expensive one which monitors contraction timings, and a cheaper one where you have less control over the settings.

I rented from Boots - it was fine

irrc one of the mothercare ones doesn't include the return postage in the hire cost

Another vote for the babycare tens option. Have used this rental service twice before and both times has been a god-send and am planning the same for number 3 due in a couple of months. I will be going for the most sophisticated model - think around £26 for 35 days.

From what I've heard, tens doesn't suit everyone but as G&A makes me vomit, I was even more dependent on the wonders of tens and didn't use any other pain relief - I'm definitely not a martyr and was very ready to call for an epidural if necessary.

Good luck!

Thank you for the suggestions. I'll have a look at babycare. Good luck all!

I got mine from babycaretens they were great, send everything you need to send it back and was very reasonable. I am fully intending to hire from them again this time as it was amazing the first time around.

My husband had it in the end and was pressing the buttons for me while I had the gas and air. Ended up with a syntocinon drip and epidural so took it off then but hoping this labour will have much less intervention!

Hi ask your midwife - they sometimes rent them out cheaper than boots or similar
