Hi all I am 12+1 and this morning I woke up feeling awful. I think I have caught a sickness bug that has been doing the rounds. I have not been physically sick but this may because I havent had anything to eat. The other end though is a nightmare iykwim! I thought I was weeing but it wasnt! Should I be worried about having this bug in pregnancy?

I had the bug going round at 9 weeks (sickness and diaorrea). Asked my midwife and she said not to worry - all fine. The scary things like listeria and toxo are totally different, more flu like and not like a tummy bug at all. I have since had my 12 week/nuchal scan and the baby seemed happy enough!

I really feel for you LittleDonkin, I have had two sickness and diaorrea bugs this pregnancy, the first at 16 weeks and more recently at 31 weeks .

The second was the worst as I have a big bump and it really hurt being that violently sick, the baby must have felt like it was in a washing machine being churned around!

Just try and take sips of water or suck ice cubes to stay hydrated, no food as it just prolongs it in my experience, not that you will feel like eating.

Fingers crossed it passes as quickly as it arrives! Take care and get plenty of rest x

i just had a particuarly nasty sickness bug at 16 weeks but i figured that being ill and not eating much for a couple of days can hardly be more harmful to the baba than the really bad morning sickness some women get. it'll be blissfully unaware of your suffering!

Thanks. I am still being sick and all I have had is sips of water and 3 dry crackers. I love eating and there are fun size twix's looking at me in the kitchen!

I got food poisoning when I was 12 weeks pregnant with DS - at first I thought it was morning sickness coming back and then DH started being sick everywhere too.

Was horrible (water came straight back up) and I was worried about effects on DS, but he was fine (and is now 6 and asleep )

I've just had something similar just ensure you talk to your doctor early, I didn't and ended up with it dragging on, and being dyhydrated (prob should've got a home visit but would rather not be hospitalised, so di the phone appointments) actually it was the second doctor that was useful told me to take imodum and I said but they all say not to and he said just take it as its worse if you continue not being able to eat or drink. He also gave me anti sickness which I used for two days (I was too ill to get out of bed) it was worth the risk to the baby for me anyway and I able to keep down enough plain food and got back to normal.
Also rehydration drinks are fantastic! They are my must have now in my medicine cupboard.
