... does not mean that I am going to end up delivering my bowel as well as my baby

It's my 3rd

Other 2 were uncomplicated, straightforward deliveries (2nd degree tears with both though, but no problems arising from that)

Tell me this is common. Please!

The only thing I CAN tell you notnowbernard is that I developed piles in my third pregnancy. They were pretty inconvenient. They were nothing, however, compared to the piles I have developed in my fourth pregnancy. As pressure in the lower abdomen builds, its hard to stop them forming. And you have my sympathies.

If they become painful or badly prolapsed, go to your GP and ask for proctosedyl ointment or suppositories. And all the stuff about high fibre diet, loads of water and gentle exercise I'm sure you know. DO NOT get constipated!

Thankyou

My bowels get a bit sluggish during pg so am doing my absolute best to avoid constipation, as it's hideous

Have to say (TMI) have just had a bm and it feels MUCH better, maybe I was a bit constipated and that was causing it

Am having nightmares of likely delivery room scenarios

Will calm down now

notnowbernard, I am pregnant with 3rd (24 weeks), and am desperate to avoid piles (I've already got varicose veins and low bp, I don't want piles too - please!). I have been eating prunes and dried apricots religiously, trying to drink tons of water and apple juice (which I've heard is good for constipation).

Good Luck

Is the general consensus here thatthe pressure could be piles, then?

Oh God. I don't want to look. Didn't get them before

Better than bowel delivery though I suppose

You probably have internal piles. (Please note - i'm not a doctor. A real doctor would stick his finger up your bum before making that assertion.) Use a cream like Anusol to see if that shrinks them a bit and keep your system moving as best you can. And good luck.

hazeyjane · 25/03/2010 10:06

Well (possibly tmi coming up).

Sometimes I get a feeling of huge pressure in my backside, and it is relieved when i do a poo, so I'm guessing that is just because I am a bit sluggish, and need to up the prunes (yuk)

When I had dd1 I had piles and they were a lot more painful, and itchy than this feeling of pressure, so maybe you are just a bit sluggish and because it is your 3rd pg everything is stretched and more sensitive.

Like Flybynight says Im not a Doctor!

tartyhighheels · 25/03/2010 10:15

I reckon you should pop along to the docs - i know its not what you want to do but internal piles cna get bit nasty - again not a doctor but have a mate who had this and it was horrible.....

also it is important to make sure that nothing has been damaged inside after the two other births... not being a harbinger of doom but really it is wise to check that you don't have any sort of prolapse or rectocele (crieky do not google this...) but really go and get yourself checked, you are more than likely a bit bunged up and will come away with lactulose or something.

Funny enough - I had a pressure in my bottom about that time and onwards. It is not constant though. Third pregnancy. Never had piles or constiaption in any pregnancy.

Freaked me out for a bit becasue it felt exactly like the start of labour in 2nd pregnancy.

30 weeks now though, conclusion is this baby is moving (a LOT!) very low down- Always feels like it is about to punch through my cervix- so put it down to that really.
