I woke up Sat amwith lower bump pains and discomfort when walking/ bending/getting about the pain is like pressure on the public bone area both left and right especially on inside top of thighs Im currently 33 weeks 34 tomorrow and finish work on Friday I really don't want to take time offlots to finish workwise and my dept is potentially being outsourced whilst on mat leave so don't want to give any reason forthemto seek me as a bad employee :-(
I'm guessing a doc is only going totell me to take paracetamol anyway :-(
laying in bed even with full body pillow for supportget hip aches and have to constantly turn but moving in bed seems so painful as well. After being in bed/sat stationary for aperiod of time it is more painful to get moving but aftertime of moving it gets a bit less uncomfortable? The end of the day seems to be bad as well? Is this normal pregnancy niggles?
This is second pregnancy but sodiffeent from first????

I hope it's not SPD but if it is you should ask for a physio referal which can take ages. My MW said the physio can't do much but IMO although she hasn't made it go away I do seem to be keeping a lid on it. Sitting on a gym ball helps as do satin pjamas for turning over easily in bed and the belt from the physio helps with standing and walking. Hope you're feeling a bit better today.

hi! sounds alot like SPD, i had it with all my pregnancy's . a warm bath really helped me an a hot wheat bag.
physo during pregnancy didnt do much for me , but was a great help afterwards.

The only way I could get comfy is to sleep sitting in an upright semi-reclined position with mega pillows behind me and some under my knees to take the weight off my pelvis.
Also - the less you do the better and it seems to make it more bearable. Also if you can somehow sleep on your side try pillows nbetween your legs from ankles to crotch - I couldn't manage this as it seemed to make me worse. No standing on one leg to put pants or anything else on - make sure you sit down, take stairs one at a time, and take it easy. I equated the feeling like a stiff one that I had to 'stretch' to make it better - it didn't.

Sounds like it. I had it really badly in last pregnancy. I recently went to see an Osteopath, who told me that she could have helped my SPD a lot during my pregnancy - maybe worth a try?

In any event, try to keep your legs together as much as poss until the baby is born. Also, I went for a water birth, as it helped with the pain and also because you can keep your legs together as long as poss.

Try to limit internal exams as well, as opening your legs that far makes it ten times worse!

Thanks for the responses ladies at the moment not crippled with it more very uncomfy paracetamol before bed helped with the loo trips and my dd wakings! If a referral is going to take ages I'll try to get an appointment Sat really can't miss any mote work!

Sorry to hear of others suffering joefully won't end up on crutches! I'm supposed to be having a elcs due to traumatic birth last time does anyone know if they will still do it? Ekkkk I have consultants appointment on 9th April to discuss section etc....,

I'm doing the pillow thing funny enough my hips and lower back have been sore for a few months might explain it?

I phoned the MW and asked for a referral and didn't see her or the GP. Might be easier on your hips to do this

butterscotch Pleaes try to take it really easy, mine started out mildish around 20 weeks and after 6 weeks at work doing normal stuff and not overdoing it, I had to be signed off. My MW actually told me the groin intense pubic pain and hip numbness pain was normal, so that's why I left feeling daft that I'd even bothered her with my pain.

I now know better. I did see a chiropractor during my pg and he did 're-align' my pelvis and hips - but he warned that due to the laxity of the ligaments this was only a temporary solution until the baby is here. Crutches can be useful to take the weight off the pelvis but again, there is no solution to this as far as my exp leads me to believe - except for resting.

I am now 4 weeks after a section (had to induce me at 42 weeks but then baby was not coming down so had to be emcs) My SPD is not as bad as it was when pregnant, but I have to tell you to please please rest - but as you do try to circle your ankles and keep your legs moving, I have to advise people about DVTs as I met a girl in hospital who was told to bed rest at 20 weeks and she had a DVT 4 weeks later.

Thanks Indigobarbie it is defo worse at nighttime I finish work tomorrow so will be taking it easy from then properly and get to the doctors!

I'm seeing my consultant on 9/4 to confirm going ahead with a ELCS but I'm hoping the SPD won't prevent the section?

I don't think that the SPD will prevent the section, but ask them to make sure they keep your legs together etc when they move you from bed to bed - just ask them to slide you over and to make sure legs together, I'd just keep repeating if they don't listen to you. There shouldn't be any reason ( I don't think) for you to open your legs though, I think they kept asking me to roll onto the other bed and I said fat chance mate, it's too sore and might damage me - they got the picture. Thanks Indigobarbie, I've finally got a doctors appointment for next Tuesday to confirm but since giving up work friday I've been trying to keep to less than 5000 steps per day (wearing my pedometer) took dd to play centre yesterdya for 3hrs mean't I was start for best part of 3hrs!

Is it normal if you rest more for the pain to be less? As I've seen quite an improvement in my walking/lower bump pain, its still there but not as bad as before?

Rolling over in bed in the night/getting out of car/bed is still pretty painful luckily I'm not suffering as bad as some of the other people I've read about!

Yes Butterscotch it is normal with spd that resting will reduce the pain. You can make rolling over in bed easier by wearing satin PJs . Try to take it easy!
