Had my 21 week scan (its a girl!) but I have been told that i need to go back at 32 weeks as the placenta is low and very near to the opening. Is this common? what are the chances it wont move? Im worrying about it now!

Hiya, mines the same and I have to go back for a re-scan at 36 weeks - I am 24 weeks now (its a boy!) with my 3rd.

From what I can gather its pretty common and the placenta generally moves as uterus grows so I am not unduly concerned.

Have a chat to your midwife at your next appointment - She will be explain all, but try not to worry.

Hi Im exactly the same, low lying placenta very close to opening, Im 23 weeks now (with a boy!) I have to go back at 36 weeks for another scan.

Sonographer and mw seemed quite confident it would move up, they said it does in most cases. If it doesnt then I will have to have a planned c-sec but hoping it doesnt come to that really.

Hi, I had this same problem at 21 weeks. Placenta was covering the cervix. I had a scan at 32 weeks 2 weeks ago and it has moved so all is fine. Try not to worry, only 5% stay low lying xx

Hi lizzie its always nice to hear from someone who's placenta moved up, gives the rest of us hope!

Fingers crossed the rest of us get the same results x
